Earlier this week, Yr 3 had an Ancient Greek Day to finish off their topic learning. They had a fantastic day!

The day started with writing a newspaper article about a person who travelled back in time to Ancient Greece and then returned to tell them all about it. Yr 3 then read the story of the Minotaur and drew pictures of it. In the afternoon, they took part in a mini Greek Olympics and designed patterns on vases.

We love celebrating achievements here at Hanwell Fields Community School and today, we would love to share an achievement of one of our staff members: Miss Bell.
Miss Bell has been awarded the National Sustainability Award at the 2026 Best in Everyone Awards ceremony for her role as Sustainability Lead here at HFCS.

Year 1 had the best day at Sulgrave Manor, learning about how things were in the past. They got to participate in:

Tudor Dance Workshop
Lavender Bag Making
Dressing up in Tudor Clothes
They had a tour of the Manor
Tried different jobs in the kitchen
& played with a range of toys from the past!
It was an excellent trip to round up their learning about the past in such a wonderful setting!

Year 5 had an unforgettable visit to the National Space Centre in Leicester, where they explored a range of fascinating interactive galleries and discovered the wonders of space. The children learned about rockets, astronauts, planets, and the history of space exploration while enjoying hands-on exhibits throughout the centre. The highlight of the day was the extraordinary Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium, where an immersive show took them on a breathtaking journey through the universe, inspiring curiosity and excitement about the mysteries of space. It was a fantastic educational experience that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Watch the Match Live at School!
🏴 We know that lots of our children will be excited to watch the England vs Mexico match, so we are delighted to give them the opportunity to watch it together in school rather than waking up at 1am!
🕘 Children should arrive at school at the usual time.
📺 Any children who would like to watch the game can join us in the hall from 9:00am.
👕 Football Shirt & Colour Day
To help celebrate the occasion, we invite all children to wear:
⚽ Their favourite football kit, or
❤️🤍 Red and white non-school uniform
🤫 Help Keep the Result a Secret!
Please encourage children to avoid checking the score or discussing the result before they arrive at school. We'd love everyone watching in the hall to enjoy the excitement of the match together without knowing the outcome beforehand.

Anyone who does not want to watch the game will take part in classroom activities.

This week saw Sports Day for our Yr 1 - 6 pupils! The weather was unpredictable (as always) but this did not dampen the children's determination and spirit! A HUGE well done to all the children that took part - we had lots of school records broken across the two days!
Now we look forward to our FINALS Event on Tuesday where there will be medal ceremonies for Howler Throw & Long Jump and the running heats for Sprint and Long Distance - emails will be sent tomorrow to let you know if your child has qualified!

Another brilliant afternoon for Careers Week yesterday! We had two more workshops yesterday afternoon:
- We had a visit from a Project Development Manager & an Automotive Engineer/ Test Driver!

The children were captivated! 😀
