Tudor Hall School

Tudor Hall School Tudor is an independent full & partial boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18 on the edge of the Cotswolds near Banbury. Join us at our next Open morning.

We have empowered every girl to flourish for 175 years. Tudor Hall School is unique in so many ways. It is a thriving, vibrant full boarding and day school which definitely ‘punches above its weight’. The academic results are excellent, produced by young women who have been selected for places at the school not just on their academic ability but also their personal strengths. The girls are not of

one type and this creates a community where everybody recognises its members as individuals and celebrates this. Staff work with pupils to ensure that each one is encouraged and supported to do her best. The girls are ambitious and determined to make the most of the many opportunities in school and beyond. The girls genuinely care for not just the community but those in the outside world. They live out the school motto ‘Habeo ut dem’, I have in order that I may give.

The Tudor Stand at the Moreton-in-Marsh Show was a hive of activity, with Old Tudorians, current and former parents & staff, and friends of the School community popping in to say hello. Our pink ‘Go Tudor’ sunglasses went down a storm with show goers, as did the ever plentiful dog water bowl!

With sponsorship of the junior sheep shearing and Home & Garden marquee to boot, a very busy day was had by all. Big thanks to Moreton Show for a fantastic day out.

A warm welcome to the new academic year from Headmistress Julie Lodrick. We look forward to welcoming boarders back on Thursday 3rd September, with lessons starting on Friday 4th September.

31/08/2026

As part of our 175 birthday celebrations, we interviewed four OTs who attended Tudor under the leadership of four Headmistresses. We were delighted to interview Molly Levene (2013-2020) - one of ‘Wendy’s Girls’ - who attended Tudor under the headship of Wendy Griffiths (2004-2021).

Molly cites the many opportunities on offer and the teachers’ passions for their academic subjects as being key in her Tudor experience. She participated in Model United Nations, DofE, sport and the Warriors programme, learning self-improvement skills, how to help others and taking pride in representing Tudor. Her passion for biology grew in the classroom.

Wendy Griffiths became Headmistress in 2004 and wrote, “What drew me to Tudor was its size, the full boarding ethos, my commitment to single s*x education and its motto, habeo ut dem. To me it was the perfect combination, as I wanted to be in a school where I could get to know all of the girls and where they would be seen as individuals allowing us to tailor their education to bring out the best in every student.”

Miss Griffiths introduced the Aim Higher programme in 2009 - to encourage every pupil to go beyond what they thought was possible in all areas of school life. The strategy involved broadening the curriculum, providing opportunities for stretch and challenge in lessons, diversifying the co-curricular, developing an outdoor learning education programme and expanding the girls’ knowledge with a series of inspirational speakers and educational visits.

In 2011, Tudor in Three Continents was established to give Sixth Formers the opportunity to put the school motto into practise by volunteering with a charity working to support children. Pupils and staff who have taken part in Ti3C often refer to it as a life-changing experience.

In 2016, OT and Film Producer Serena Armitage opened The Drama Studio and, in 2020, the Griffiths Teaching Centre was opened by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall (now Queen Camilla). The building houses core subjects English and Maths, and specialist facilities for textiles, ceramics, food & nutrition and photography.
