What a wonderful morning we had at our local library! πŸ“š

The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a fantastic arts and crafts session all about pets, alongside a lovely story time. They had so much fun exploring different activities, getting creative, and learning through play.

Afterwards, we spent some quiet time looking through the books, and we're excited to say we've opened our very own library card! We borrowed some fantastic books that we'll be sharing during our group times back at nursery.

Our children loved exploring the library, and it was a brilliant opportunity to encourage a love of books, stories, and learning within our local community. We can't wait to visit again – this is definitely the first of many regular trips! πŸ“–

A big thank you to everyone at the library for such a welcoming and enjoyable session! 🌟

🌿 A Wonderful Visit to Bridge Street Community Garden!

Today we enjoyed a fantastic visit to Bridge Street Community Garden, where our little learners explored nature with all of their senses, observed insects and birds in their habitats and developed an understanding of where food comes from.

We discovered pear trees laden with fruit, spotted sweetcorn growing tall, admired the pumpkin patches and found berry bushes bursting with colour. The children were especially excited to pick and taste a blackcurrant and a redcurrant each – a wonderful opportunity to experience fresh produce straight from the garden and promote turn taking!πŸπŸŒ½πŸŽƒ

Our adventure continued as we explored the bug hotel, carefully investigated the creatures living beneath the logs and watched a beautiful ladybird crawl across each of our hands before taking flight several times. We also spotted a hoverfly enjoying the flowers.🐞

As we wandered beneath the taller trees, the children noticed lots of bird boxes, sparking thoughtful conversations and curiosity about which birds might live there and how we can care for wildlife.

Days like these provide rich, hands-on learning experiences that nurture curiosity, encourage exploration and help children develop a lifelong appreciation for the natural world. 🌱

πŸŽ“βœ¨ Preschool Graduation 2026 βœ¨πŸŽ“

What a truly beautiful day celebrating our amazing preschool graduates! It was filled with smiles, laughter, proud moments, and a few happy tears as we watched our little ones mark the end of such a special chapter.

While our hearts are a little sad to say goodbye, we couldn't be prouder of everything they have achieved. It has been a privilege to watch them learn, grow, make friendships, and blossom into confident, kind, and curious children.

As they take their next big step and begin their journey at school, we wish each and every one of them the very best. Keep believing in yourselves, be brave, keep asking questions, and never stop shining.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ“

We feel incredibly lucky to be located right alongside the canal, with wildlife right on our doorstep, where nature and everyday life create the most wonderful learning opportunities.

Today, our children watched in awe and wonder as a family of ducklings paddled gently alongside our nursery garden before taking a little rest on the canal bank just the other side of our fence. πŸ¦†πŸ’› Their excitement continued as colourful canal boats drifted peacefully past, sparking conversations, curiosity, and lots of enthusiastic waving!

These simple, magical moments help children develop an understanding and appreciation for the natural world, encourage observation and language, and remind us all to slow down and enjoy the beauty around us.

We love that our unique location gives our children experiences like these every day. 🌿🚀

🌍⚽ What an exciting week we've had at nursery as we explored our wider community through the excitement of the Men's World Cup!

Children from all rooms and age groups came together to celebrate, learn, and have fun, creating a wonderful sense of community across the nursery.

Our football-themed activities supported learning across all areas of development:
⚽ We transformed our indoor space into a mini football pitch where children developed their gross motor skills, practised following instructions, and learned the importance of taking turns and playing by the rules.
⚽ Our Football Bingo game encouraged early maths skills, helping children match pictures, recognise patterns, and build concentration.
⚽ Our table football activity strengthened fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and teamwork.
❀️🀍 Children also enjoyed exploring red and white playdough for a fun sensory experience, developing their creativity and strengthening the small muscles in their hands.
🎢 To add to the excitement, we listened and danced along to World Cup songs, encouraging movement, rhythm, and bringing everyone together through music.

By celebrating a global sporting event, the children have been learning about the wider world, different communities, and how sport can bring people together. It was wonderful to see children of all ages learning, playing, and celebrating side by side! 🌎❀️⚽

Over the past few weeks, we've had the privilege of watching a truly amazing transformation unfold. From tiny eggs to hungry caterpillars, then carefully forming their chrysalises, and finally emerging as beautiful butterflies.

Along the way, we cared for them, including putting out fresh fruit once they became butterflies to give them the energy to take flight, and today we released them into the world.

This experience has been a wonderful way to learn about life cycles, growth, and change, learning lots of new vocabulary along the way. It has also helped us understand the importance of caring for living things, showing kindness, patience, and responsibility as we supported them through each stage of their journey.

Watching these butterflies take flight was such a lovely sight, one even came back and landed on us to say goodbye before going off out into the world. πŸ¦‹

Part 2 The sensory exploration continued as the babies discovered the refreshing citrus scents through water play! πŸ‹πŸ’¦

Using jugs, containers, and citrus-infused water with lemon and lime slices, the babies enjoyed filling, pouring, and emptying as they investigated the different smells and sensations. They were curious to explore the floating fruit and enjoyed smelling the citrus aromas as they splashed and played.

This engaging water play activity encouraged the babies to develop their hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and early mathematical concepts such as volume and capacity. As they poured water between containers, they practised concentration, problem-solving, and cause-and-effect learning.

The combination of sensory water play and familiar citrus scents provided a fun and stimulating experience, supporting the babies' curiosity, exploration, and confidence as they learned through play. What a wonderful way to continue their citrus-themed adventure!

Part 1 Ducklings enjoyed a wonderful sensory play experience exploring lemon and lime scented playdough!πŸ‹πŸˆ
The playdough was bright green and yellow, encouraging the babies to engage their senses of touch, smell, and sight. They explored the soft texture by squeezing, pressing, and manipulating the dough, while enjoying the fresh citrus scent of lemons and limes.
To extend their learning, we provided real lemons and limes for the babies to investigate. They enjoyed feeling the different textures of the fruit skins, smelling the citrus aromas and the scented playdough.
Using a variety of tools, the babies made marks, created shapes, and developed their fine motor skills as they rolled, pressed, and moulded the dough. This hands-on activity supported sensory development, fine motor skills, curiosity, creativity, and early exploration through play.
What a fun and engaging way to learn through the senses! πŸ’›πŸ’š

Today, a small group of our children enjoyed a wonderful visit to Rosalie Care Home. Rosalie Care

When we arrived, we all joined together to sing the "Tick Tock Hello" song, helping us learn each other's names and making everyone feel welcome. One of the residents delighted us by playing the piano while the children danced and sang along, waving colourful scarves to the music. 🎹🌈

We also brought along some homemade playdough for everyone to explore together. The playdough was bright yellow and green and smelled beautifully of lemons and limes, creating a lovely sensory experience for both the children and residents. πŸ‹πŸˆ The playdough inspired lots of creativity, with everyone making different shapes and creations. One of the care assistants even fashioned a funny moustache from the playdough, which brought plenty of smiles and laughter from both the children and residents!

Before heading back to nursery, we waved goodbye to all our new friends and thanked them for such a special morning.

We can't wait for our next visit! πŸ‘‹
