Huge congratulations to Emma in Y13, who was awarded a £200 bursary from the Banbury Fine Arts Society for her strong submission of art and photography work. The judging team commented, “We were specifically impressed by Emma’s use of colour, contrast and depth. Emma expresses tranquillity, drama, beauty and pathos with considerable power. Emma has also expressed different interpretations of landscapes, the properties of colour and contrasting mood extremely well. We were unanimous in our conclusion that Emma should win the 2026 Fine Arts Prize.” Emma was presented with her prize and certificate by Lord Heseltine at a special prize giving ceremony last night (Tuesday 08/09/26)

A brilliant, and well-deserved achievement Emma! Huge congratulations from all of your teachers in the Art Department.

Building lifelong habits: the power of daily reading. 📚
At Chenderit School, we are committed to supporting both academic progress and personal wellbeing. Research shows that young people who read regularly perform better across all subjects, build stronger vocabularies, and experience lower stress levels.

Whether it is fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, or audiobooks—everything counts!

Here is how we are supporting reading across Years 7 to 11 this year:

'16 Before 16' Challenge: Encouraging pupils to read 16 rewarding books before finishing Year 11 (including titles like Animal Farm, Noughts & Crosses, and The Book Thief).

Daily Expectations: All pupils must carry a reading book in their bag every day. Books can be borrowed from our LRC or our 'borrow and lend' bookshelves around school. Accessible 'Hi-Lo' books and RNIB Bookshare resources are also available.

Stop, Drop & Read: The whole school will pause for 20 minutes of quiet reading on set dates throughout the year, starting with 16th October (Period 5).

Find the full '16 Before 16' list and booklet on our website: https://www.chenderit.northants.sch.uk/Reading/

Thank you for supporting your child's reading routine at home! đź“–

🎓 Year 11 & Year 13 — what’s next?

Now that you’ve had a little time to take in your GCSE and A Level results, we want to wish you all the very best for whatever comes next.

Whether you’re heading off to university, an apprenticeship, college, work, sixth form or taking a completely different path, we hope you’re excited for the next chapter.
Remember, there’s no one route to success. The hard work you’ve put in will pay off, even if it doesn’t always happen straight away. Keep believing in yourselves, keep working hard and don’t be afraid to take opportunities that come your way.

And as you head into the next stage of your lives, take our school motto with you:

Aim High. Work Hard. Be Kind.

Not just tomorrow or next week, but next year and throughout your future.

Good luck to you all — we’re looking forward to seeing where life takes you! 🌟
