🏁 DRIVER ANNOUNCEMENT - LUKE SAWYER JOINS PLD FOR SNETTERTON 🏎

Luke Sawyer will step into the Pitlane Development seat for the next round of the BRSCC City Car Cup, replacing regular driver Reuben Lowe for the weekend.

Having recently won the British University Sim Racing Championship and already shown impressive raw pace during his last race at Croft in the Student Motorsport paddock, we’re excited to see what Luke can achieve with the team.

🏎 TEAM STATEMENT 💨

Yesterday our car was involved in an incident which has resulted in substantial damage to the vehicle.

On the second lap of race one Reuben completed a successful overtake on another driver into the second corner and was subsequently tapped at the back by the driver he had just overtaken, this caused Reuben to spin out and sent him into the barriers. The stewards concluded after the race that Reuben was not at fault and the other driver has received penalties.

Reuben has been checked by the circuit medial team and is ok, just a bit sore.

After a detailed inspection by the team after the race, it was concluded the chassis is damaged beyond the point of reasonable repair and that the car will sadly need to be re-shelled.

it’s been a disappointing moment for us all and this is a bitter pill to swallow after having such a well prepared car but unfortunately this is how Motorsport can be sometimes.

We will be back for Snetterton in a few weeks time. Motorsport isn’t based on what happens, but how you react and keep moving forward.

🚨 PITLANE DEVELOPMENT EXPANDS TO 2 CARS FOR THE 2027 SEASON 🚨

What started as an ambition to provide aspiring motorsport engineers and mechanics with genuine trackside experience has quickly grown into something much bigger.

Following a season of continuous development, improving on-track performances, and establishing ourselves as one of the most professional teams in the Student Motorsport paddock, I’m delighted to announce that Pitlane Development will field a second car in the 2027 BRSCC City Car Cup Championship.

Running a second car allows us to:
🏁 Welcome more aspiring mechanics and engineers into the garage.
📊 Expand our engineering and data capabilities.
🎓 Continue providing real-world motorsport experience that helps bridge the gap between education and full time employment
📈 Build on the strong progress we’ve made throughout our debut championship campaign.

We’re also actively searching for a driver to complete our 2027 line-up. If you’re looking for a professional, ambitious team that is passionate about driver and team development, we’d love to hear from you.

We return to work from a couple of weeks off with an exciting announcement. We’re proud to announce that Pitlane Development is now a registered UK Trade Mark.

This milestone represents far more than legal protection for our brand. It reinforces the commitment we’ve made to building a trusted, professional organisation that supports aspiring motorsport engineers, mechanics and drivers while delivering real trackside opportunities across the industry.

From our first career coaching sessions to running a competitive race team in the Student Motorsport Championship, every step has been focused on creating meaningful pathways into motorsport. Securing our trademark is another important chapter in that journey and provides a strong foundation for the future growth of Pitlane Development.

☀️ WERE TAKING A SHORT BREAK! 🛬

A positive weekend at Croft for Pitlane Development, with improved pace, close racing and valuable data to take into the next round.

positive results all round as we climb up to 9th place in the Student Motorsport championship. Our Trackside Mentorship clients are really starting to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of the team and they build on the essential skills they have picked up so far with us.
