A great day's flying yesterday. The team worked amazingly well together, despite several challenges, including a difficult wind direction. We also welcomed a visiting glider pilot from the Netherlands. A lovely way to spend a day with friends!

Congratulations to EGC Instructor Alex, who won the British Aerobatics Championship at Advanced Level earlier this month, held at Buckminster Gliding Club.

Alex has been busily training with the rest of the British Team to head to the World Aerobatics Championship at Fayence in France this September, under the watchful eye of his coach, Graham.

Last Saturday was another awesome soaring day! ⛅ Congratulations to junior pilot James on his silver height (height gain of 1000m) in our club K13 and to fellow junior pilot, Lucas, on completing his silver duration (5 hour flight) in his Standard Libelle, as well as his 100km Diploma Parts 1 and 2.

Congratulations to Kent GC pilots Martin Hardy & Matt Waters on flying their diamond distance (500km) on Friday, as well as to Andy Moore on his gold distance/diamond goal (300km). Our own Duo crew of Steve Tilling and Tim Donovan flew over 400km.

This week is EGC's Annual Task Week, where we are joined by a visiting group from Kent Gliding Club.

SHENINGTON REGIONALS 2026

Congratulations to Alex O'Keefe on winning the Shenington Regionals 2026 with 4510 points, followed by Jim White in second place with 4395 points and Tim Webb in third, with 4224 points.

Congratulations also to Ed Oliver, the highest placed Junior pilot, who also won his first competition day during the week in his Standard Libelle.

Last week, as part of our evening entertainment schedule for the Shenington Regionals 2026, we were pleased to welcome two guest speakers on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Faye Jamieson, Air Traffic Controller, Instructor and Examiner came to talk to us about her role and air traffic control at , one of our neighbouring airfields.

Nathan Taylor from came to talk to us about the work of Mission Aviation Fellowship - the world's largest humanitarian air operator.

We are very grateful to both speakers for taking the time to educate us.

Sunday evening was pizza evening. A big thank you to EGC member, Lisa, who cooked 65 handmade pizzas with the help of fellow member Craig. Lots of very happy pilots and a lovely evening!
