Just a snippet of the last month in Pre Leavers. We have been crazy busy decorating our Christmas door with everyone having an important role in the creative process. We have been working really hard and making fantastic progress on our IEP targets. Everyone has been thriving with the independence in Jobs Club, going to Tesco’s to buy our ingredients and cooking loads of yummy food. We also had the BBC Radio Ulster come visit us at our Donkey Therapy session, it was very exciting for our pupils to be interviewed and we look forward to hearing it be broadcasted at the end of December. We have also enjoyed our free time playing with all the different games we received from the Amazon wish list. Thank you everyone!

A note from High Rise:
We know how challenging it can be for families of children with autism and additional needs to find places that the whole family can visit together, especially at this time of year. Many ‘traditional’ Christmas events won’t suit everyone with flashing lights, loud music and long queues, so we’re delighted to offer this magical event.
The Christmas evening will take place at High Rise Lisburn on Wednesday 13th December between 4pm and 7pm and is a ticketed event.
Guests can enjoy either Clip ‘n Climb or soft play before a private family visit with Santa in our calming sensory room which has been transformed into Santa’s Grotto.
Further information on the event is available here : Autism Friendly Christmas Event at High Rise Lisburn (highriseni.org)
We encourage families wishing to book tickets to do so as soon as possible as this event is likely to sell out.
As High Rise is a Social Enterprise all tickets purchased for the event will enable our charity Employers For Childcare to support families both locally, and across the UK.

Today, in conjunction with our Hi 5 Friday activities, we re-introduced the Wright Friendship Cup. This cup was donated to our school by Emily Wright, who had been our school secretary for some time, and her late husband John. Recipients of this cup are chosen for their kind acts in school. We, as a staff, notice the smallest acts of kindness and feel that our pupils need to be acknowledged for them. Each month we will share the winners of the Wright Friendship Cup from each of our schools (Junior, Middle and Senior). Remember - it's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.
Our Junior winner was chosen for cheering his friend up in the Sensory Garden.
Our Middle School winner was chosen because she independently soothed a friend in class who was upset.
And in Senior School - team work makes the dream work. These pupils showed such kindness when they held open the doors all the way up the corridor for one of our wheelchair users - brilliant work boys!
We have been absolutely overwhelmed with how amazing our local community is. A massive thank you to everyone who has helped to fulfil our Amazon Wishlist. Also to those who have brought in extra goodies for our children to enjoy.
Presents will be opened next week and delivered to classes who are all so excited!
