This day last year our family walked the tightrope between life and death. And thankfully all was right in the end and I’m grateful everyday that our family is still a whole.
But sitting here this morning reflecting on those weeks, there’s an overriding feeling. Despite the panic and fear that can still be felt. And as strange as it may sound, the overriding feeling is of being carried, lifted, a sense of community and backed by love.
Love didn’t fix Sam, that was modern medicine; but love carried us and made hope feel like a tangible emotion.
Here’s my take away;
Be a decent human, show kindness and these things will come back ten fold when you need them. Ask for help, ask for hope, ask for prayer; there are people in your corner and when you tire, they’ll be there to take the weight.
Lastly, we’re told we live in a world full of hatred, well I really do not agree. People are good, people are kind and people are there for each other. Regardless of race, religion, beliefs; people from all over this wee country showed us their love and when we needed it most and we are eternally grateful.
