✨ Pupil Leadership Team ✨

As we return to school, our Pupil Leadership Team begin their new roles.

Head Girl, Eva and Head Boy, Jack are supported by deputies Bere, Hannah, Stan and Ben to lead initiatives across the Brownedge community.

These pupils represent the best of Brownedge, and we know they will do all they can to help their peers let their light shine across the coming school year ✨

Families across Lancashire are now able to access earlier support for children and young people with neurodevelopmental needs. ‌

The service, Neu Way Support, offers personalised advice, guidance and practical help based on need rather than diagnosis for families who are navigating concerns about autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences.

The service has been commissioned by Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) and will be delivered by Spring North in partnership with local community organisations that are specialists in supporting children, young people and families.

Families can self-refer at: https://springnorth.org.uk/projects/neu-way-support/ or call 0300 365 5030.

As a parent or carer, you know your child better than anyone. If you’ve noticed changes in how they communicate, learn, interact or experience the world, it’s natural to have questions. You may be wondering what those differences mean, where to seek advice or how to find the right support.

New experiences, new challenges, big achievements, unexpected moments and plenty of reasons to smile along the way!

There’s already so much planned for the term ahead, with lots of opportunities for our pupils to get involved, try something different, discover new interests and make the most of everything that life at Brownedge has to offer. And if last term is anything to go by, we have a lot to look forward to!

So, before we start making new memories, let’s look back at just some of the moments that made last term so special. From fantastic achievements and opportunities to shine, to trips, events, celebrations and those everyday moments of fun and happiness together, there was so much to be proud of and enjoy.

Breakfast, break and lunchtime are an important part of the school day, so here’s a quick reminder for returning families – and some useful information for those joining our Brownedge family for the first time.

Our existing parents and pupils will already be familiar with our cashless system, with ParentPay used to add money to pupils’ accounts, as well as to pay for activities, events and trips. Pupils can also add cash to their account using the machines in the dining hall.

For our new Year 7 pupils, individual PIN numbers will be provided on the first day, and we’ll make sure everyone knows how the system works.

Free School Meals
Eligible pupils currently receive £1.50 per day for breakfast and £2.50 for lunch, automatically credited to their account. Breakfast allowance must be used during Breakfast Club and doesn’t roll over to lunchtime. Snacks at break aren’t included in the Free School Meals allowance, so additional money will need to be added if pupils would like to buy these.

More families may now be eligible
From September 2026, eligibility for Free School Meals is being extended. Families receiving Universal Credit may now qualify. If your child already receives Free School Meals, there’s no need to reapply.

If you think your child may be eligible, you can find out more and apply through the Lancashire County Council website:
lancashire.gov.uk/schools – select ‘Free School Meals’

Hopefully that’s one less thing to think about as September approaches!

It’s that busy time of the summer when thoughts turn to coming back to school. To sorting uniform, checking what still fits, finding the right shoes, stocking up on stationery and making sure everything is ready for that first morning back!

Looking smart is about more than what we wear. It’s about taking pride in ourselves, taking pride in our school and starting each day feeling confident and ready to learn. We want every pupil to wear their Brownedge uniform with pride and represent our school community at their very best.

Our website has all the information pupils and parents need for 2026–27, including our full uniform and PE kit requirements, along with helpful examples and guidance on trousers (including girls trousers), footwear, PE shorts and hairstyles.

Please take a few minutes to check the guidance before the start of term:

Dress smart. Think smart. Take pride in being part of our Brownedge family. See you next week.

There’s always something exciting about the start of a new school year – a fresh start, lots of opportunities and plenty to look forward to. We’re excited and hopeful about what this year will bring for all of our pupils and our whole school family.
