West Coast OWL Our 2021 aims include:

1. Establishing a network for outdoor and woodland learning practitioners and projects.

West Coast OWL aims to:
- increase first-hand learning experience
- learning for sustainability
- improve mental, physical & social health through supported outdoor and woodland activities West Coast OWL “hatched” in January 2021 with expertise in Forest School practice, child rights and safeguarding, outdoor learning and wellbeing, philosophy of education, arts and community engagement. Sharing g

ood practice and forming an Outdoor and Woodland Learning Community.

2. Working with schools and youth organisations to support the amplification of outdoor and woodland learning for children and young people

3. Working with local and regional organisations to support the amplification of outdoor and woodland wellbeing for communities

4. Co-creating and collaborating on future plans with our West Coast OWL Community

There are over 40 exciting activities lined up from talks and walks to workshops —almost all of them free— throughout the weekend and across south Skye, from Armadale to the Plock, beginning with a festival launch social with bar and music at An Crùbh, 7-9 pm on Friday 24th, and a film screening of "Ocean with David Attenborough" at the SMO on Saturday night!

An Crùbh will be the event hub for info, last minute bookings and to a host of displays by 15+ local and national nature organisations.

Places on most activities are limited so jump in and book your places on the link above!

We had a wonderful spring equinox gathering at the Plock yesterday, where we learnt about the origins of fire & practised safe fire lighting & campfire cooking.

West Coast OWL is delighted to invite you to our Spring Equinox Network Event

On: SAT 21st MARCH 12-4pm
At: The Plock, Kyle of Lochalsh

Come and join us for an open network gathering, welcoming in the spring together.
This event will be a fun and supportive afternoon where we will be exploring all things Fire and Pine in an outdoor learning setting.
We will have Fire Stories, Top Down Firelighting Techniques and firestarting materials plus Kelly Kettle practice and use.
There will be fire snacks and pine tea as well as other light refreshments and a little pine cone creativity.
There will also be a selection of OWL Scotlands free learning resources available to take away.
This is a free event but you will need to book for it so we have an idea of numbers.
