Relaxed, encouraging and tailored for you lessons. ABRSM, Trinity, MTB, LCM, RSL. 1000+ successful exams. Online and face to face. Introduction:
Hello, my name is Peter and I have been teaching piano, music theory and GCSE music, alongside accompanying instrumental and vocal exams for over twenty years. During this time I have been teaching both individual and group lessons in person and online, p
rivately and within schools. I have a Masters and Bachelors degree in music and am a member of the EPTA. My students have ranged from 3 years of age to 70+ and from beginner to diploma level. Approach:
In a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere we will find out what you would like to learn. What is your favourite type of music: classical, jazz, pop, traditional, worship, country? Finding music you like and incorporating it into your lessons will be one of our main goals. Alongside this we can learn how to read and interpret music, how to memorise, improvise, understand music theory and improve your technical ability and overall musical knowledge. We will progress in all of this at a pace that you are comfortable with and enjoy. Lessons:
Lessons of 30 or 60 minutes take place weekly, online or face to face. Piano lessons are one to one. Theory and GCSE Music can be on a one to one basis or in an online class. Exams:
If you would like to sit piano exams, these can be tailored to suit you personally. Would you like to sit an exam face to face with an examiner, or would you like to record your exam in the comfort of your home or in your lesson and send it away to be marked? Would you like to learn and present everything at once, or hone and polish one element at a time, building your grade up until ready to send? Do you have a particular exam board in mind from which to select your pieces or would you like the option of choosing any piece you like at your particular level? I have experience preparing students for ABRSM, Trinity, MTB, LCM and RSL exams, employing classical, jazz, pop and traditional music. Iβm sure we can find something to suit you and your learning style. Festivals:
Pupils are encouraged to prepare performances for the public. Music festivals are a fantastic opportunity to do this and over the years my students have performed at the Portadown, Lagan, Belfast and Holywood music festivals, alongside Primary and Young Musician of the Year. They have enjoyed many, many performances in these and achieved numerous trophies, 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings, and Most Promising Pianist awards. If you have any queries or would like to find out more, please get in touch. Thank you.
