The Music Service for Pipes and Drums (MSPD) supplies tutors to teach the art of playing the Highland Bagpipes, Snare Drums, Tenor Drums and Bass. Once the student is at the required standard they will get the opportunity to perform at concerts and festivals. The Music Service for Pipes and Drums also offers students the opportunity to study their chosen instrument and gain accredited examinations. The MSPD works in conjunction with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association NI (RSPBANI).

Catriona McKay (Scottish harp) and Chris Stout (Shetland fiddle) form one of the most inventive and expressive duos in contemporary traditional music. ANNOUNCEMENT: Matt Molloy, John Carty & Brian McGrath | Ríoghnach Connolly & The Breath update ‼️

Line-up change: Maighread & TrĂ­ona NĂ­ Dhomhnaill to Join Matt Molloy, John Carty & Brian McGrath at Mandela Hall.

We’re very sorry to share the news that Ríoghnach Connolly has unfortunately sustained a broken leg and will no longer be able to perform at her scheduled concert at Mandela Hall during this year’s Belfast TradFest. We wish her a full and speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming her back to the festival in future.

But… we have extraordinary news 👏🏻

Taking Ríoghnach’s place are two of the most iconic voices in Irish traditional music, Maighread & Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill – absolute legends and founding members of Skara Brae.

Even more excitingly, TrĂ­ona NĂ­ Dhomhnaill will now share the stage with her former Bothy Band bandmate, the legendary flautist Matt Molloy (The Chieftains, Planxty, The Bothy Band), who is performing alongside fiddle virtuoso John Carty and master accompanist Brian McGrath.

This is a truly rare gathering of traditional music royalty.

Tríona and Matt last shared a Belfast stage just this past February, when Belfast TradFest proudly presented the Bothy Band’s first Irish concert since 1979 to a sold-out Waterfront Hall. Their reunion was unforgettable – and now, festival audiences will have another chance to witness that historic magic, in the intimate setting of Mandela Hall.

This will be an evening of stunning musicianship, powerful song, and deep tradition — not to be missed.
