🎹 MUSIC TUTORS WANTED – JOIN THE BSM TEAM! 🎶
We’re growing our tutor team at Ballymena School of Music and would love to hear from passionate, reliable musicians who enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities.

⭐ We’re currently looking for:

🎹 Piano Tutors� - We have teaching available on Wednesdays and Fridays, with the opportunity to build a regular student timetable.

🎶 Cover Tutors – Various Instruments & Singing� - We’d also love to expand our bank of cover tutors who can step in when members of our teaching team are unavailable.
You’ll be joining a friendly, established music school with a great team of tutors, admin support and a busy community of students.

What we’re looking for:� 🎵 Grade 8 standard or equivalent�🎵 Aged 18+�🎵 Friendly, dependable and confident working with students�🎵 Teaching experience is great, but support is available for musicians looking to develop their teaching experience

🎶 At the end of June, we held our Summer Beginners' Recital, and it was wonderful to see so many students performing in front of an audience for the very first time. 🌟

Watching their confidence grow and seeing them support one another is what it's all about. A huge well done to every performer – you were amazing! 👏🎵

✈️ Stuart is just back from China, where he’s been examining for RSL!

We caught up with him to hear what it’s like over there — and he’s shared some great photos with us 👀

❔What’s it like examining in China?
👉China is definitely an experience and it can vary so much. For example Shanghai is a little more western, easy to travel about with (Didi) taxis, people can speak a little English. Whereas other cities and locations are not as developed. A vpn is soooo necessary as China block FB/Instagram/google so getting around can be very tricky at times and also staying In contact with family will be much more challenging if you don’t have this.

❔What surprises you the most about the students there?
👉They Love the drums!!!! Most exams are drum exams. In my first year in China around 94% of all exams were drums. This year I had a few guitar exams and my ears welcomed less noise for a few exams.

❔Do you notice any differences in how music is taught or approached?
👉Most exams are performance certificate which means they play 5 songs to complete their grade. So no ear tests, sight reading or questions. They love to perform!
