U16 Rugby Results

Cullybackey 10 - 10 Dunclug

After a difficult loss to Ballycastle last week the U16 Rugby Team made an impressive return to form this week, drawing 10 all with a tough side from Dunclug College. Despite being the underdogs, Cullybackey had the lion's share of the ball in the first half, keeping possession well and limiting Dunclug's opportunities in attack. Cullybackey were unlucky to give away a break away try late into the first half and showed grit and determination to keep fighting on and managed to draw level just before the end of the first half. Dunclug came out much stronger in the second half and Cullybackey were on the back foot for large parts of the half. They showed a stellar effort in defence, constantly holding up Dunclug metres from the try line. It was only after a prolonged period of attack that finally Dunclug managed to break the deadlock, capitalising on an overlap in the wing to score in the far corner. With only 3 minutes left in the match it looked like it was all over, but Cullybackey refused to go down without a fight and showed a ferocious effort in the dying minutes to once again draw level. Congratulations to all the pupils involved from both teams.

๐Ÿฅค Year 12 GCSE Business Studies Visit Coca-Cola! ๐Ÿญ

Our Year 12 GCSE Business Studies pupils enjoyed an educational visit to the Coca-Cola Factory in Lisburn today!

The visit provided a fantastic opportunity to see business operations in action and explore how a well-known global brand brings its products to market.

Experiences like these help bring classroom learning to life, allowing pupils to make real-world connections with the topics they study in GCSE Business Studies.

A great opportunity to learn beyond the classroom! ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿš— New Driver NI 2026/27 visits Cullybackey College!

It was a pleasure to meet the Year 13 students at Cullybackey College today for our New Driver NI presentation. Their enthusiasm and engagement helped make it a valuable session as they prepare for life as young drivers and passengers.

We explored the importance of making responsible choices on the road, alongside the new Graduated Driving Licence arrangements and the responsibilities that come with getting behind the wheel.

A big thank you to Mid & East Antrim PCSP for their continued support in bringing vital road safety education to young people in the area. Our 2026/27 New Driver magazine offers practical advice to help students approach their driving journey with greater knowledge and confidence.

Thank you to the staff and students at Cullybackey College for such a warm welcome. We wish you every success as you learn to drive and a lifetime of safe journeys. ๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ

We are also grateful to our generous sponsors, whose support makes this programme possible:

CRASH Services | JMK Solicitors | AB&C Insurance | Used Cars NI

Together, we are helping young people across Northern Ireland make safer choices on our roads. ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽต In class, Year 9 and GCSE pupils have been studying Ulster-Scots Music and on Friday 9th October, they enjoyed learning about various aspects of our Ulster-Scots culture. Pupils had the opportunity to play the snare drum, flute, and bagpipes, as well as putting on their Scottish dancing shoes and having a wee blether in Ulster-Scots. We had a fantastic day, and we want to say a special thank you to the Ulster-Scots Agency for delivering such interesting and engaging workshops! ๐ŸŽถ

Huge congratulations to our Under 14 football squad who travelled to play Limavady Grammar in the Round 1 of the NI Cup on Monday.

The boys emerged victorious from an epic game, winning 6-3 to seal their place in the next round. Goals were scored by Izak Richmond who gained a hattrick, Jesse Mark who grabbed two and Year 9 pupil TJ Todd.

This was a tremendous team performance against a talented Limavady side, with goalkeeper Harry Tang nominated Man of the Match after a superb didplay between the sticks.

New Visions โ€“ When Art Meets Science

The Art Department welcomed back our partnered artist Jayne Cherry to work with Year 13 and 14 pupils as we commence the 3rd and final year of the New Visions project with The MAC.

Turning the classroom into a darkroom, pupils experimented with the process of creating Cyanotypes.

Cyanotype is a camera-free photographic printing process that turns paper or fabric blue when exposed to ultraviolet light.

We look forward to seeing the possibilities of this technique as projects develop throughout the year.

This opportunity is made possible with funding from the Freelandโ€™s Foundation.
