EA recommends that you list at least four pre-schools or primary schools in the order of your preference. Make sure you read carefully through the published admissions criteria for the schools you are considering, so that you know exactly what supporting documentation and information is required.

Do you have a child born between 2 July 2017 - 1 July 2018?

First Steps Pre-School, based at the St Joseph’s Early Years Centre, Doury Road, Ballymena, offers a fun and interactive learning environment.

Enrolment for September 2021 is now open and can be completed online. Registration closes at noon on 29 January.

PRE-SCHOOL AND PRIMARY SCHOOL ADMISSIONS UPDATE

If your child is due to start pre-school or primary one in September 2021, admissions guidance and the published admissions criteria for pre-schools and primary schools are available online on our website. Visit https://www.eani.org.uk/parents/admissions and click on “Search Schools and Admissions Criteria”.

It is important that you read the admission criteria for any pre-school or primary school that you may be hoping to send your child to. Please note:

• You CANNOT make your online application yet.
• The online portal for applications will open on 7 January at 12.00 noon and will close on 29 January at 12.00 noon.
• The admissions process does NOT operate on a first come first served basis. Pre-schools and primary schools WILL NOT begin to consider applications until after the portal closes on 29 January at 12.00 noon.

The most important things to do now:
• Read the admissions criteria for the pre-schools or primary schools that you may want to send your child to.
• Familiarise yourself with any documentation that a pre-school or primary school may need you to provide. Any documentation that you may need to upload during the application process will be mentioned in the admissions criteria of the pre-schools or primary schools you will be considering.

All pre-schools and primary schools will require a copy of your child’s birth certificate to be uploaded during the online application process so please make sure you have a birth certificate in your possession.

We will be providing more updates on social media prior to the opening of the citizen portal and online application process.

The Pre-School and Primary One online admissions portal will open on 7 January 2021 and close on 29 January for applications for the academic year commencing September 2021.
Further information on the process will be available on the EA website from 18 December. We will continue to provide updates via our social media channels.

For those children who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs, parents will be contacted in the usual way by Special Education during the Special Needs Transfer Review process.
