SCC 60th Anniversary Stained-Glass Window Project
As part of the upcoming 60th anniversary celebrations of St Ciaran’s College, pupils from the Art & Design Department took part in a special commemorative project. Each pupil was challenged to design a 3-foot stained-glass window that will become a permanent feature in the school.
Throughout the project, pupils explored both historical and contemporary stained-glass design, experimenting with colour, pattern, symbolism, and composition. Their work reflects the school’s motto “Fortis in Fide” and mission “Including Everyone, Inspiring All to Succeed.”
All entries are currently on display in the school foyer. The winning design will now be developed by a professional stained-glass studio and installed as a lasting legacy—celebrating six decades of education, faith, community, and achievement.
A huge well done to all pupils involved for their creativity, dedication, and hard work.
About the Winning Design (Nicole Reid)
Nicole’s design beautifully captures the spirit and identity of the school over the past 60 years.
At the centre is the school badge, symbolising that every success is rooted in the school’s core identity. The wings extend outward to represent growth, ambition, and the nurturing of students to reach their full potential. Radiating light from the cross reflects the guidance and strength of the school’s Catholic faith.
The book highlights the importance of knowledge and learning, while musical notes and instruments celebrate the rich tradition of Irish music and creativity within the school. The Gaelic football represents dedication to sport, teamwork, and resilience.
Finally, five stars symbolise the school’s core values, with the school colours woven throughout to unify and strengthen the overall design. ✨
