As we wave our final pupils goodbye at Parkgate Primary, we do so with immense pride and gratitude for what has always made our school so special.
It has been a true privilege to work in partnership with our parents, families and the wider community - together creating a place where children are supported, encouraged and celebrated, and where every member of staff has felt proud to belong.
Over the years, Parkgate has seen many changes - through education, buildings, curriculum and the wider world. Yet through it all, one thing has remained constant: our pupils. They are, and always will be, the heart of Parkgate. The spirit of respect, kindness and acceptance lives on in every child and every member of staff who has been part of our journey.
To our pupils, families, staff and governors, past and present - thank you for being part of something more than just a school.
As you move forward, do so with confidence. Be kind, stay curious, work hard and always believe in yourselves.
The values of Parkgate Primary will live on in each of you.

As part of our work on instructional writing, P4/5 children made their very own chocolate fudge sauce. They carefully followed instructions, took turns giving directions using imperative verbs, and worked brilliantly together as a team. Best of all, everyone enjoyed tasting the results of their hard work โ€” and even helped to wash up afterwards! Such fantastic teamwork and learning all round ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

We had a fantastic day at Carrick Castle! The children stepped back in time to experience life as a Norman soldier, exploring the castle and learning what life would have been like all those years ago. To top it all off, we finished the day with some wellโ€‘deserved fun at the park. Lots of learning, laughter and great memories made! ๐Ÿฐโš”๏ธ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐ŸŒŸ Thank You, Roots of Empathy Team! ๐ŸŒŸ
A huge thank you to Mrs Hobson, Mrs Simpson, Mrs McLean and the wonderful Baby Charlie for facilitating the Roots of Empathy Programme. Their time, care and commitment made the sessions truly special.
The programme has brought fantastic benefits for our young children, helping them to develop empathy, kindness and a better understanding of their own and othersโ€™ feelings. Most importantly, the children absolutely loved taking part and looked forward to every visit!
Thank you for such a memorable and meaningful experience ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ“ Active Learning & STEAM Numeracy ๐Ÿ“
We explored acute, obtuse, reflex and right angles using our bodies, string and by spotting angles in our natural environment. ๐ŸŒฟ
The children created Angle Cityscapes with 2D shapes and took on an engineering challenge, designing pig pens, forming angles and calculating perimeter. ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ“
Fantastic handsโ€‘on learning! ๐Ÿ‘โœจ

๐Ÿฆ‹ A Very Hungry Caterpillar Week! ๐Ÿ›
The children have been busy enjoying activities inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We shared the story together and learned all about the lifecycle of a butterfly.
The children created beautiful symmetrical butterfly paintings and cooked delicious butterfly buns, where we also investigated capacity by measuring ingredients using measuring cups instead of scales ๐Ÿง๐Ÿฅฃ.
We finished the day with lots of imaginative play in The Hungry Caterpillar themed cafรฉ โ˜•๐Ÿ›

P3 have been using mental strategies to add two twoโ€‘digit numbers โ€“ no calculators allowed! ๐Ÿ˜„
By splitting numbers and bridging through ten, theyโ€™re giving their brains a brilliant workout, building focus, memory and maths confidence along the way.
Small sumsโ€ฆ big brain gains! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿง

The children had an absolute ball kicking off their rugby journey with Oran, the brilliant Club Community Rugby Officer from Randalstown Rugby Club.
From quick feet and lightningโ€‘fast reactions to practising their handling skills, everyone gave it their all and showed fantastic enthusiasm while having lots of fun trying something new.
We canโ€™t wait to see what next week bringsโ€ฆ bring it on! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ™Œ

๐ŸŒท Spring Inspiration at Parkgate Primary ๐ŸŽจ
Our pupils have been enjoying the beautiful spring sunshine while sketching and using watercolours to paint the stunning tulips outside our school grounds. It has been a wonderful opportunity for the children to observe nature closely, practice their artistic skills, and be inspired by their surroundings.
A huge thank you to Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough for the lovely decorative display, which has added so much colour and inspiration to our outdoor area. The tulips have truly brightened our school and our learning! ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒˆ
