Today’s announcement by the Minister for Education marks an exciting moment for our school community, as our long-held ambition for a new school build moves forward once again, with the planning and design process commencing immediately.

Principal Dr Michelle Rainey said:

“As Principal, I am thrilled by the Minister’s announcement of a new school build. This is a significant milestone for our school community and the culmination of considerable work and determination to shape the conversations around the future of education provision in Ballyclare.

Through the Minister’s foresight, a long-held ambition is now moving towards becoming a reality! His announcement heralds much-needed new accommodation for our pupils, and the commitment to new accommodation across a number of local schools undoubtedly affords a golden opportunity to provide top-quality educational provision in Ballyclare that will serve many generations of pupils to come.

While we look firmly to the future with great excitement for what’s to come, we remain equally ambitious for the pupils in front of us today. We are committed to ensuring that our current pupils benefit from the very best environment possible, with continued investment in our existing facilities reflecting the high expectations and ambitions we have for each and every one of our young people.”

🎹This month, our Ballyclare High School Alumni Spotlight shines on the wonderfully talented Janine Kinnear, whose musical gift captured the attention of audiences following her appearance on Channel 4’s The Piano.

🎬Janine’s performance introduced viewers across the UK to her remarkable talent and her passion for music – a passion whose foundations were strengthened during her years at Ballyclare High School.

🎼Looking back, Janine credits the school with playing an important part in developing and encouraging her musical abilities, giving her opportunities to learn, perform and grow in confidence.

❤️Her journey is a wonderful reminder of the lasting influence that great teachers, encouragement and opportunities at school can have, sometimes helping to nurture talents that will one day be shared with an audience of millions. From the music rooms of Ballyclare High School to the national stage, Janine’s story is one we are delighted to celebrate.

Congratulations to Year 13 pupils Jasmine, Juliette, Daniel, Isla and Katie, who performed with the National Youth Choir Northern Ireland - NYCNI at last Friday’s concert in Fisherwick Presbyterian Church, following an intensive residential week of rehearsals and vocal coaching.

We were also proud to see Ballyclare High School Alumni Ellen Mawhinney return as the choir’s Soprano Sectional Coach!
