"I saw this post and it really resonated with me…

I am a mum of a little girl who loves dancing, I danced as a child and it is still my happy place.

I was dancing 4 days a week when I stopped. I did Ballet, Tap and Jazz. It was a relief to be able to immerse myself in something which was exercise based and could let me focus on how my body worked. It was an absolute and total relief to be in my happy place.

The relief allowed me to study hard and I had predicted grade 1s for every exam plus an additional non school standard grade in Italian.

My parents thought it was too much, so I had to choose one type of dance. I couldn’t choose, because I loved every style and challenge they brought. So, unable to choose, I gave up on them all.

My physical and mental health were affected, so in turn my exams suffered, and I didn’t ever sit my Italian Standard Grade, despite my Dad being Italian.

I am a 42 year old adult and I still love dancing, although it is now restricted to my adult class and dancing badly around my kitchen!

I would urge any young dancer to keep doing what you love. Please allow yourself time to switch off and immerse yourself in something wonderful. The break and physical activity will help you focus better and allow you to revise.

My little girl will dance as long as she enjoys it, and until she tells me she wants to stop. It allows her to disappear into her own world and I see a glimpse of a little me.

The legacy of knowing how your body works, the friends you make and the support of those in your class will last a lifetime. We are all a dance family. It sounds twee, but we are all in it together (with our clicking joints and funny toes - although thankfully no methylated spirit these days 😳!)"

We have loved dancing in the sunshine this week!
🪩Our youngest dancers enjoyed some April silliness and end of term games and loved watching Miss Emily perform her tap solo for the upcoming Global Dance Open finals!
🩰Our older dancers are working on their upcoming RAD ballet and ISTD modern exams, but we still had time for our favourite game! Have you ever played sardines?!
👯‍♀️Finally, our adult class spent a few weeks learning Swanhilda's entrance from Coppelia and we loved being allowed to have good old strop at the end 🤭

Let's Dance! is a nation-wide movement of dance organisations, charities, health professionals, local councils, community groups, business, celebrities and media getting together with one objective – to get the nation dancing. It is taking place on Sunday 2nd March 2025, and everyone is invited to join in the fun!

We will be running some Open Classes as part of this event, with something on the table for all ages! Whether you have danced your whole life, or never taken a class before, these classes are open to anyone wishing to give dance a go and try out some exciting styles!

✨Junior Open Class - Jazz / Musical Theatre Workshop
✨Adult Open Class - Barre / Jazz Workshop (Parents of young dancers fully encouraged to come along and participate!)

Each workshop will take place at the McLintock Hall, Balfron. Please wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and bring along a drink and a snack! £6 at door.

Dancers are encouraged to bring along their besties for a fun-filled afternoon! Kids are more than welcome to stay and play through the adult class, with colouring books and games available while their adults gets their dancing shoes on too!

💜This weekend our performance team experienced their first dance competition!🧡

We couldn't be more proud of these girls for their hard work, team work, and positive attitude throughout the build up and the event itself.
A lovely 5th place trophy is now being shared among them as the icing on the cake but as always, we focus on all the benefits of learning to tackle nerves, trying something new, and having fun doing what we love!
