🌍✨ SUMMER SCHOOL – DAY THREE! ✨🌍

What a brilliant final day of our Around the World Summer School at TVLA! 💜

✍️🌎 We started with an English lesson focused on persuasive writing, with students challenged to create their very own travel brochures. The quality of work and presentations was fantastic, with Mexico 🇲🇽 being voted the overall winner! Brilliant effort and confidence shown by everyone. 👏

🌧️ Unfortunately, the rain put a stop to our planned Colour Run, but that certainly didn’t stop the fun!

🔎 Students instead took part in our previously postponed scavenger hunt, exploring different areas of the school while following a series of cryptic clues. There was plenty of teamwork, problem-solving and laughter along the way!

A huge thank you to Miss Sixsmith for leading today’s sessions and, of course, to Miss Sieg-Hogg for her invaluable assistance 😉 💜

We really hope everyone who has joined us for Summer School this week has thoroughly enjoyed themselves, made new friends and feels even more confident about starting at TVLA.

We hope you’re all looking forward to coming back on Wednesday as much as we are looking forward to welcoming you! 🌟💜

🌍✨ SUMMER SCHOOL – DAY TWO! ✨🌍

Another fantastic and action-packed day at TVLA Summer School! 💜

🏗️ STEM Challenge
We started the day with Dr Barker, who challenged our students to become engineers! Using only a limited selection of materials, teams had to design and build the tallest AND strongest structure they could. There was some brilliant problem-solving, teamwork and plenty of competitive spirit! 🧠💡

🍝 Pasta time!
Next, it was back to Food Studies with Mrs Sieg-Hogg, where yesterday’s homemade pasta dough was put to good use. Students learned how to use the pasta machines, rolling and cutting their dough to create either spaghetti or tagliatelle. Some very impressive pasta was produced! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳🇮🇹

🎾🏓 Get Into Sport
We finished the day with another energetic afternoon of racket and ball games, expertly coached by Mr Bacon from Get Into Sport. A brilliant way to end another busy day! 🙌

Lots of new skills, teamwork, laughter and confidence building throughout the day. 🌟

📢 Apologies to Parents & Carers

We are aware that some parents and carers have not received Mr Waring’s sixth letter.

We apologise for this and for any inconvenience caused. The letter has been sent out again today, and we are hopeful that it has now reached everyone. 📩

⚠️ Please read the letter carefully, particularly the information regarding the staggered start times throughout the morning on the first day back, as students in different year groups will be expected to arrive at different times.

🌍✈️ SUMMER SCHOOL – DAY ONE! ✈️🌍

What a fantastic first day of our Around the World Summer School at TVLA! 🌎💜

🇫🇷 Bonjour, France! Students learned some French and practised describing how much they liked – or perhaps didn’t like! 😆 – a selection of typical French foods. 🥐🧀🥖

🇮🇹 Next stop, Italy! 🍝 Our budding chefs got stuck into making fresh pasta dough from scratch, ready to turn into their choice of spaghetti or tagliatelle tomorrow. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

📚 We also enjoyed some quieter time together with a Read Aloud session, sharing a story and developing our love of reading.

🏃‍♀️🏀 And to finish off a busy day, a huge thank you to Get into Sport for delivering a brilliant multi-games session this afternoon. Lots of energy, teamwork and smiles all round! 🙌

A fabulous start to Summer School – we hope everyone had as much fun as we did! 💜🌟

Great to meet Blake, who comes from a bit further afield. The former The Valley Leadership Academy pupil has enrolled onto Level 3 Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
