The rules around Free School Meals are changing from September. If your family receives Universal Credit you will be eligible, regardless of income.

Application is quick and simple - go to Lancashire.gov.uk/schools and click on free school meals

A busy last week ahead. Here’s a reminder:

Monday
Year 6 Mario’s Meal 🇮🇹
Pupils should arrive at Mario’s Ristorante at 5:30pm and should be collected at 7:30pm. There is lots of parking available at the back of the building.

Tuesday
Rocksteady Music Concert 🎶
Parents of those that have taken part in the rocksteady music sessions throughout the summer term are invited to join us in the school hall from 9:20am on Tuesday ready for the show to begin at 9:30am. The four bands have been working incredibly hard and cannot wait to show you their skills! 🥁 🎹 🎤 🎸

School Disco 🪩
All pupils are invited to stay after school from 3:15-5pm on this day. Pupils should return a permission slip along with £1 before Tuesday if they would like to attend.

On Tuesday pupils that haven’t already brought their spending money should bring it (in change) in a sealed envelope with their child’s name on.
KS1 should hand their envelope to their class teacher and KS2 can give their envelope to their teacher or keep it secure in their bag. Pupils should bring a change or party clothes/shoes in a bag on the morning of the disco.
All pupils will exit via their usual exit doors at 5pm
Those not attending the disco will exit via their usual exit doors at 3:15pm

Year 6 Leavers Assembly ⭐
Year 6 parents are invited to join us in school from 1:20pm for the assembly to begin at 1:30pm.

Dave’s Valley ices will be parked outside of school from 3pm for anybody that would like to make any purchases 🍦😋

Friday
School closes for the summer holidays at 1:30pm ☀️
🚨 There is no Busy Bees after school club on this day 🚨

There is limited staffing in the office this week so please refer to letters, emails and information already provided where possible.

Summer is here again and Bacup & Whitworth Libraries have a free reading scheme, aimed at ages 4-12, taking place over the summer.

There are activity sessions every Friday during the holidays at Whitworth Library between 2.30-3.30p.m. and at Bacup Library each Wednesday 10- 11 a.m.

Reading Heroes helps combat a decline in children's literacy levels over the summer holiday, encouraging reading for pleasure and rewarding children with stickers, prizes and certificates.

Thorns Art Exhibition ⭐

Parents/Guardians are invited to join us in the school hall after school today to have a browse around our fantastic art gallery! 🎨 🖼️

The gallery is open for ONE DAY ONLY 🎟️

Once all pupils have been collected and left out of their usual exit doors, families will be welcomed in to school via the main entrance ⭐

🌟 We can’t wait to welcome our new Year 6 students to The Valley Leadership Academy tomorrow for Transition Day! 💜

Tomorrow marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, and we’re looking forward to helping our future Year 7 students feel right at home.

🕣 Arrival: Please arrive at 8:45am, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by our fantastic Student Leaders, Form Tutors, Mrs Pilling (Head of Year 7) and Mrs Sieg-Hogg (Head of Lower School), who will be on hand to greet everyone and help you settle in.

👕 What to Wear
Children should attend in their primary school uniform. As a special exception, we’re delighted for pupils to wear their Year 6 leavers’ hoodies as part of their uniform if they wish. 🎉

🍎 Food & Drink

* A free snack will be provided at break time.
* A free school lunch will be available for all children.
* Alternatively, pupils are welcome to bring a packed lunch if they prefer.
* Please remember to bring a refillable water bottle so everyone can stay hydrated throughout the day.

🕝 Collection: Children should be collected at 2:45pm.

We know there may be a few butterflies, but don’t worry—our staff and student leaders are ready to make sure everyone has a fantastic first experience of life at TVLA. We can’t wait to meet you all, show you around your new school and begin your journey with us.

Lighthouse Class have enjoyed an afternoon watching a movie in the cool hall space and eating some yummy Colin the Caterpillar cake provided by one of our specialist teachers visitors who will be celebrating her birthday over the weekend. Thanks Natasha! 🐛 🍰
