A big congratulations to Bell who won the Newton Primary Sunflower competition!
We had lots of great entries but Bell's colourful design really stood out. We were delighted to reward her with an art goodie pack which included a packet of sunflower seeds for her to plant and watch grow this summer🌻

🏳️‍🌈 Rainbow Day 🏳️‍🌈
Thurs 8th June

Don't forget tomorrow is Rainbow Day / Summer Fayre ⛱️🌈

The children are sure to have a fun filled day, with lots of exciting games and stalls to visit! We even have a bouncy castle coming 🥳
Each stall costs 50p, as does the bouncy castle. Please send your children with 50p pieces if you can - but don't worry, their money will be exchanged for 50ps if you don't have any available.

Children are allowed to wear non-uniform.

Rainbow day is all about celebrating diversity and uniqueness - the children will be taking part in fun activities in class based around this theme.

Please remember, the AGM is next Wednesday at 1.30pm and the Parent Council desperately need a new Chairperson (or co-chairpersons), a treasurer and a secretary in order to continue to run.
The Parent Council is a very valuable asset to the school and it would be sad to see it have to disband. Please come along to the AGM - all parents and carers of pupils at Newton Primary & EYC are welcome and encouraged to come 🥰

A Parent Council is usually made up of parent helpers and at least three named office bearers - a chairperson, a treasurer and a secretary (a vice chair is also optional).
Currently, all three of those office bearer roles are held by myself and after around 8 years on the Parent Council I am stepping down next month. This means all three roles (plus vice chair if anyone opts for that) are up for grabs. The Parent Council is an important part of the school and without new members willing to take on these roles, Newton Parent Council will fold and this will have a huge impact on the children and on the funding available to our families and community.

The three roles are described in more detail below. If you have any questions please ask. The AGM is being held on Weds 7th June at 1.30pm.

CHAIRPERSON
The role of the Parent Council Chairperson is;
•to ensure the Parent Council is run in line with its constitution
• to chair the monthly meetings and set the agenda for the meetings.
•to liase with the school about fundraising events, external funding options, and activities for the children
•to liase with external organisations about opportunities for funding and donations.
•write the annual report for the AGM

SECRETARY
The main duties of the secretary are;
•Take minutes of the meetings (huge thanks to Mrs Killick who has taken on this role over the last few years!!)
•communicate with the school, committee members and outside community members/organisations
•prepare publicity for events (tickets, posters, social media posts etc)

TREASURER
The main duties of the treasurer
•to control the Parent Council funds in line with the committee's decisions
•make sure upcoming events are affortable/profitable
•manage the day-to-day finances and keep accurate records of the Parent Council's financial activity
•arranges floats for events
•Ensures money is banked after events
•prepares a financial report for the AGM

To reiterate - we currently have nobody to take on any of these roles, and without them being filled next month, the Parent Council will fold and this will have a huge effect on the children, the school and our families.

Christmas card orders arrived and have been given out to class teachers. Please keep an eye for these arriving home from school with your children 🥰🎄

💙🎄 Thank you 🎄💙

Thank you to all the parents & families who supported our Christmas Card fundraiser.
The children (and staff) all worked really hard and created brilliant designs which we cannot wait to see brought to life on cards, magnets, keyrings etc.

This year we received orders from 45 pupils and this will raise approximately £100 for the Parent Council, which will of course be poured right back into the school/pupils 🙌👏

The designs are now with the printers and the final products should be delivered to the school by early December.
We will keep you updated.
