The staff at DASS hope that you and your child have now become accustomed to the new procedures at DASS.
However please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via email or our mobile number if you or your child has any worries or anxieties about being back at DASS.
Here is a reminder of the new Policies and Procedures that we currently have in place:
Full Risk Assessments have been carried out in order to minimise any risks in relation to the spread of Covid 19.
Staff have access to PPE such as masks and visors and can wear these if they wish.
Children can wear face masks if they so wish although these are not necessary.
Staff have a digital thermometer available in case any child becomes unwell whilst at DASS and DASS staff have access the school medical room.
Full regulated FFP3 masks and protective clothing have been purchased for staff safety in case any child complains of of 'Covid 19' symptoms.
Enhanced cleaning & personal hygiene measures have been put in place including the regular use of hand sanitisers and the wiping down of surfaces, door handles, light switches etc.
Craft materials including paint brushes, pens etc will be shared and cleaned at the end of the day. Items which are difficult to clean will not be used at present. (e.g. Beans bags, rugs) - the same goes for toys and games.
If you wish to send your child to DASS with their own set of pens/pencils these should be in a labelled bag with their name on it and DASS will store them as best they can.
Parents are not allowed access with their car to the school car park
No parents are allowed access inside the school and staff will sign in and out all children to maintain a register of attendees. Parents if required should socially distance outside in the playground at drop off/pick up time at the DASS door.
Due to the small number of children attending DASS they will not be in 'bubbles' and will be mixing with all the children attending DASS that day.
Toilet use will be strictly one at a time with increased signage to reaffirm personal hygiene such as hand washing.
No personal belongings such as toys should be brought to either Breakfast or After School. Coats and belongings should be left in the school cloakroom.
Until further notice parents should provide their child with water and a labelled snack for them to have whilst at DASS, including having breakfast before attending Breakfast Club.
All payments should be made by Bank Transfer or by Childcare Vouchers.
Parents should send their child to school with appropriate clothing for the weather each day as DASS, where possible, will be outdoors.
No child should attend DASS if they are feeling unwell with symptoms of Covid 19
Parents should inform DASS immediately if their child tests positive for Covid 19 and has recently attended DASS
All bookings should be emailed to [email protected]
If any parent wishes to speak with the manager or staff member this will be done as a pre-arranged appointment via mobile or digital meeting.
Finally a reminder that all bookings for October should be emailed to DASS asap or by Wednesday 23rd September at the latest.

Good news

Thanks to your support the numbers of children booked in for September has increased (although still well short of usual numbers) and the committee has decided to run both the Breakfast and the After-school over September.

It should however be pointed out that DASS will be running at a Loss for both the Breakfast and After-school during September. This is not sustainable in the long term but the committee felt that parents rely on the service running especially in such difficult times.

We will continue to monitor the situation over the coming months and keep you updated.

Regards, stay safe

Jill Ross
DASS Administrator

25/08/2020

Reminder that all September bookings should be submitted by 5pm tomorrow, Wednesday 26th August. The committee will then have to make a decision about the viability of DASS running for that month

Unfortunately we have still no news about reopening in August. We are having to wait on the Scottish Government's final decision on schools, which I believe won't be until 30th July. After that we will hopefully have a clearer picture of what will happen but we will also have to wait on South Ayrshire Council making a decision about school lets to outside agencies.
Also note that if a soft start is to happen the first week of schools return, DASS may not open until the second week back and all children are in full time.
As soon as we know whats happening we will update you. Thanks.

23/06/2020

Our service would love to return in August when the schools go back to assist working parents with their childcare needs. (If we get permission).
We are a Not for Profit organisation but we still have to be financially viable to run, unless we can secure a grant or funding from an external body.
We have asked all parents currently registered with us and those who have expressed an interest in using our service to get in touch with us via email to let us know what their possible childcare needs would be come August, to gauge if there is a need for us to reopen. If you are a new P1 parent or new to the school or just haven’t used the services before and you think you may need our services please get in touch.
We operate a Breakfast club from 7.30am and an Afterschool club until 5.45pm
Our email address is: [email protected].
Thanks

Amended SAC School Holidays for 2020 - 2021

03/06/2020

Hi Everyone, We at DASS hope you are all still staying safe and staying at home as much as possible, where possible, and keeping well.

DASS staff are all still furloughed but Lynn our Manager has been in touch with Mr Baird at the school. We have asked for him to stay in contact with us about the plans for the childrens return in August, so that DASS can be kept in the loop and if possible provide some sort of Breakfast and After school service for those that will require it. However we have no idea yet what sort of service, if any, we can or will be allowed to provide.

Registration forms for next session will be e-mailed out to everyone currently registered with DASS (or looking to register) in the next few weeks but at this point we will not be charging the Β£10 registration fee, until we know what kind of service we can provide.

We are aware that parents themselves don't know what days their children will be attending school, and we have no idea of the numbers we will be allowed to cater for at any one time, and although DASS is a 'Not for Profit' organisation we have to make sure it is financially viable and SAFE to run the service.....lots for the staff and committee to think about.

In the meantime please continue to Stay Safe and we will update you as soon as we know any more details

If your child is new to the school or you think that you will be needing the services of DASS come August, please e-mail us at: [email protected] for a registration form and /or further details

Thanks

18/03/2020

Nicola Sturgeon , First Minister of Scotland has said all schools will close at the end of this week due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
This means that DASS will also have to close, so please be advised we are giving you notice that the closure of our service is imminent.
This is already a challenging time for everyone and it has just become more so especially for the staff at DASS, however we ask that you are patient with us as we go forward.
We will cancel all bookings for the next 2 weeks and if possible offer a full refund to everyone in due course however if you pay via childcare vouchers we cannot refund you but will hold a credit for the amount on your account to that value, to be used when we are back up and running.
If you have any issues please e-mail us at: [email protected]
Stay safe everyone

16/03/2020

However for those still to make payment for March please make sure you make payment soon, as all payments should be made in advance of any booking made.

16/03/2020

Can I ask parents to book into DASS for April as normal but refrain from making any payments to DASS until the 1st of April. Hopefully by then we will have a clearer picture of what if anything will be happening in the schools....

20/02/2020

March booking forms should be handed in to the manager by tomorrow. Thanks

23/01/2020
