Our new Year 7’s have had a fantastic week getting to know the school, staff and each other. They have tried a number of activities which have required lots of good character- climbing, floristry, sports, dance and English, Maths and Science.

Today they had a special assembly with Miss Kelvie, Miss Duff, Mr Green where they each received a certificate of character and achievements.

We are really looking forward to seeing how they progress and develop.

We hope they had a great time and introduction to Aylesford School.

Summer School!
Today we welcomed our new year 6 pupils who will be joining us in September, into school to participate in acedemic and character enrichment sessions. Students enjoyed engineering, using the climbing wall, orienteering, and science. All students were fantastic and demonstrated great character. Please remind all students to bring in their character cards tomorrow as there will be a special award ceremony on Friday to recognise character strengths displayed.

We also had some of our other students on for Summer School today and said a sad farewell to Harry R who enjoyed his last day with us today celebrating with his mentor class using the giant inflatables. Good luck Harry and great effort today 9F

Today was our final day of Character Week - we hope that our students have enjoyed the week, have had a chance to do something different and take part in different activities that have contributed towards their own personal development and character.

We had a fantastic last day taking part in a range of different enrichment activities, and we managed to get all of these up and running despite the weather!

The last year has been tough and the goal of character week was to do something different and fun allowing our students to hopefully create some great memories of school with their friends!

Our second day of Character is week is complete - yesterday over 600 students and over 50 staff attended Thorpe Park! Thorpe Park was extremely busy and the weather was super hot but that did not stop our students and staff having a fantastic time!

As usual our students demonstrated great character throughout the day and were all fantastic ambassadors for our school!

Today our Year 7 and 8 Students are involved in Careers and Enterprise workshops and lessons all day and our Year 9,10,11 and 6th form are involved in sports day! Another hot one!!!

We are keeping a close eye on the weather tomorrow and hoping that we can still go ahead as planned with our sports day for Year 7 and 8

An education that builds character

Our vision is to provide high quality academic and ‘Character Education’ which develops confident young people who are successful learners and contribute positively to society.

At Aylesford School we believe that we should do more than just teach students how to pass exams. We believe we should provide them with the opportunity, and indeed the expectation, that they develop strong character strengths.

We work in partnership with parents to help our students develop the courage to persevere at tasks even when they are tough; the confidence to have a voice and to know what is right; the compassion and integrity to put themselves in someone else’s shoes, and to be kind to others.

We recognise and reward students who demonstrate our Character Strengths in school. When they also make good progress academically and are on track to reach challenging target grades, they have the opportunity to graduate at the end of each year.
