I've been nominated! 🌟

Five weeks ago I ran my very first Phonics with Robot Reg class. Today I'm a nominee for the Rising Star Award – Aylesbury 2026 in the 365 Business Awards, and I honestly can't quite believe it.

After 14 years in the classroom, I took a leap to build something for me, my family and all the little learners in Aylesbury: fun, hands-on phonics classes for 1-4 year olds. Since September, 54 little ones have joined us to sing, play and build their speaking, listening and early reading skills, and every single family has made this feel possible.

Last week was all about "p" 🤖 and my goodness, did we p-p-puff out a lot of candles!

The learning doesn't have to stop when class ends. Little and often at home makes such a difference, and it really can be as simple as popping bubbles or spotting pyjamas and pasta around the house. Swipe through for easy ideas to try this week 👉

I get asked this a lot at this point in term, so I wanted to answer it properly 👇

As a teacher for 14+ years, I saw children join classes at all points in the year. The ones who did well weren't the ones who started on day one. They were the ones who kept turning up, week after week, and had fun doing it.

That's exactly how Robot Reg works. Each week builds on the last, but we're always going back over sounds, and consolidation lessons at the end of term mean nobody gets left behind.

So if you've been thinking "I'll just wait for the next term to start," you really don't need to. Your little one could be singing, playing and building their speaking, listening and early reading skills from this week.

What a week! 🤖

It's been all about the "t" sound, dancing with teddies and hiding under umbrellas, and the giggles when the bubbles came out were something else 🫧😂

Repeating sounds and words in play at home is one of the best ways to help them stick and it doesn't need to take long. Five minutes over breakfast or bath time is plenty.

I honestly can't believe week 3 is already done! I'm having an absolute blast meeting all your little ones and watching them get stuck in without realising they're learning. Nursery rhymes are so much more than a bit of fun!

The rhythm and rhyme help little ones tune in to the sounds in words, which is where speaking, listening and early reading skills begin 💛

Our preschool class favourite is a pass the parcel style game: when the music stops, someone pulls out a rhyme teddy and we all sing along 🧸

After speaking about our whys at our conference, this is mine 💛

I wanted to keep teaching, but have more time for my own little ones. Robot Reg lets me do both 🤖

I've always loved phonics and early reading, because reading is the gateway to everything. If I can give little ones a head start while they have loads of fun, that's what makes it so special for me.

What a fun second week it's been at Phonics with Robot Reg! 🐜💛

Our Minis turned into paramedics this week, driving ambulances and saving injured teddies, learning all about body parts along the way - there's nothing like a bit of pretend play to make sounds stick!

Meanwhile our Preschoolers got moving with musical statues, blending words every time the music stopped. Our nursery rhyme bag continues to be a firm favourite – it's amazing how much language and listening builds from something so simple.

This week's Phonics song was "Ants on Arm" 🐜
