This morning we had the pleasure of meeting Sherrilyn Bateman, The Mayor! The Mayor brought a visitor with her, Ruth Mayhew from Aylesbury's Homeless Action Group (AHAG).

The children were very interested in homelessness after a recent picture news assembly. We felt the children would benefit from someone talking about this issue. Ruth and the Mayor came to talk about their work in supporting people who are homeless. Aylesbury Homeless Action Group (AHAG) is the Mayor's chosen charity for this year.

Mr Charman will be talking to the Community Champions about how we can raise awareness and support this charity alongside supporting the Aylesbury Foodbank once again.

Please note there will be a collection of food for our harvest table soon. More information to follow!

Thank you for all your support. As a school community we are exceptional at helping different causes and it is much appreciated. - Mr Charman and Community Champions.

Thursday the 30th September was National Poetry Day. In celebration we held an assembly all about creating poetry to the theme of ‘I Wonder’.

Together we created the beginnings of a poem and then launched our TJS Wonder Poetry Competition.

Children are invited to write a poem using the them of ‘Wonder’. More details are posted into their google classroom.

They can do this on paper or type it up and then submit it to the padlet below. Alternatively they could bring it to school and hand it to their English Champion.

We can’t wait to see where their creativity and imagination take them!
