πŸŽ‰ GCSE Results Day β€” good luck to everyone receiving their results today!

To all of this year's GCSE students: whatever is waiting inside that envelope or on that screen, I hope today gives you the opportunity to celebrate the work you've put in and look forward to whatever comes next.

And to those whose next step is A-Level Biology... 🧬

Firstly β€” enjoy the rest of your summer! You don't need to spend the next couple of weeks trying to teach yourself the A-Level course.

But there are a few simple things worth knowing before September:

🧬 Refresh, don't relearn
A-Level Biology builds on your GCSE foundations. Being secure with topics such as cells, enzymes, transport and genetics will help β€” but there's no need to start learning new A-Level content yet.

πŸ“Š Don't forget the maths
Percentages, ratios, graphs and interpreting data are all an important part of A-Level Biology.

πŸ“ Expect questions to feel different
Knowing the content is only part of the challenge. You'll increasingly need to apply familiar Biology to unfamiliar situations and work out exactly what a question is asking.

πŸ“š Build good habits from the beginning
There's a lot of content across the two years. Regular retrieval and keeping on top of earlier topics will make life much easier than trying to relearn everything before exams.

Most importantly, don't worry if A-Level Biology initially feels like a big step up.

You're not expected to be an A-Level student on day one. Those skills develop over time.

Best of luck to everyone receiving their GCSE results today β€” and congratulations on reaching the end of this chapter. Whatever comes next, enjoy it! πŸŽ‰

Some students are looking forward to going back to school. Others might be wishing the summer holidays could last just a little bit longer! β˜€οΈ

Either way, starting September feeling prepared can make a big difference.

That doesn’t mean spending the rest of the summer revising. A few small, purposeful steps can help students refresh what they know, spot any gaps and head into the new school year feeling a little more confident and prepared.

I've put together 5 simple things students can do before September β€” save this post and come back to it during the last week of the holidays.

For now, enjoy the rest of the summer! β˜€οΈπŸ”¬

Is your child heading into Year 11 and aiming for a Grade 7–9 in GCSE Science? πŸ”¬

Hi, I'm Mr T β€” an experienced secondary Science teacher and examiner.

This September, I'm starting a small online Year 11 Science group designed for students who want to stay on top of their GCSEs, strengthen their exam technique and go into their exams feeling confident and well prepared.

Each week, we'll work on not just knowing the Science, but applying it effectively to GCSE questions β€” because understanding the content and turning that understanding into marks are two very different things.

Students receive:

πŸ”¬ Weekly live online Science tuition
πŸ§ͺ Biology, Chemistry & Physics coverage
πŸŽ₯ Recordings for catch-up and revision
πŸ“ Exam-style homework with personalised feedback
πŸ‘₯ Small-group teaching

September 2026 intake now open.

If you're wondering whether the group would be a good fit for your child, I'm offering a free, no-obligation consultation.

The reason why your child forgets everything...

Have you heard your child saying "I revised this already" but still struggling to remember it?

The more time passes the more we forget - Hermann Ebbinghaus

The brain is supposed to forget information unless it's regularly retrieved.

That's why simply reading notes over and over rarely works.

Instead, research shows that students need to:

βœ… Test themselves regularly
βœ… Retrieve information from memory
βœ… Space their revision over time

This is one of the evidence-based strategies I use every week with my GCSE and A-Level students because it helps build knowledge that actually sticks stronger than
