Resilience and Determination Drive Year 11 Success

We are incredibly proud to celebrate an excellent set of results for our Year 11 students, with both attainment and progress improving on last year’s outcomes.

This year’s cohort also achieved the highest number of Grade 9s in the Academy’s history, alongside strong improvements in English and Mathematics.

A huge congratulations to all our students, and thank you to the staff and families who have supported them throughout their journey.

GCSE Results Day – Thursday 20 August

We are looking forward to welcoming our Year 11 students into school at 9.00 am to collect their GCSE results.

For students joining AVA Sixth Form, you will be required to register for Sixth Form enrolment from today (Thursday 20th August). Full instructions explaining how to register will be emailed to you in due course.

The Sixth Form Team will also be available on Friday 21 August, from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm, to support students and families with admissions and any queries you may have.

We wish all of our Year 11 students the very best of luck with their results and look forward to seeing you.

Celebrating Year 13 Success at Aylesbury Vale Academy

We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 students and their achievements in this summer’s A Level and BTEC examinations.

Students have demonstrated our values of Respect, Aspiration and Resilience, with strong performances across both academic and vocational courses and many now progressing to university, apprenticeships, employment and further training.

A huge congratulations to all our students, and thank you to our dedicated staff and Sixth Form team for their support and commitment throughout the year.

World Challenge Borneo – Turtle Conservation

Last week brought another incredible experience for our World Challenge team as they completed their turtle conservation project.

The students helped protect newly laid turtle eggs, took part in night patrols and, incredibly, helped release 192 baby turtles into the sea!

They also explored the jungle, spotted long-tailed macaques and other wildlife, and took part in a beach litter pick that really highlighted the impact of plastic and waste on the environment.

An unforgettable few days of conservation, wildlife and making a real difference.

From September 2026, eligibility for Free School Meals is expanding. If your family receives Universal Credit, please check whether you qualify and submit an application, even if your child already receives free meals in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, or has previously been eligible.

World Challenge – Borneo Update

What an incredible few days our students have had!

After travelling by boat to a remote village, the group spent two nights experiencing life in the heart of the Bornean rainforest. They enjoyed guided jungle treks, crossed bamboo bridges, discovered stunning waterfalls, planted trees as part of a local conservation project, and learnt about traditional music and handicrafts from the welcoming local community.

The kindness and hospitality shown by our hosts made this a truly unforgettable experience.

Now it's back to Kuching for a quick refresh before the next exciting stage of the expedition – a turtle conservation project!

World Challenge – Borneo

Our World Challenge students have had an incredible start to their Borneo adventure!

Over the past few days they have explored the vibrant city of Kuching, visited a traditional Chinese temple, experienced the bustling local food festival and embraced the opportunity to sample a variety of authentic local dishes.

A real highlight was a visit to the Semenggoh Orangutan Wildlife Centre, where the group was lucky enough to spot a male, female and even a baby orangutan living freely in the surrounding rainforest – an unforgettable experience!

The local people have made everyone feel so welcome, and our students have thrown themselves into every challenge with enthusiasm, curiosity and a real sense of adventure.

As always, they have been fantastic ambassadors for Aylesbury Vale Academy, representing the school with maturity, kindness and respect. We couldn't be prouder of them!

Next stop… a three-day jungle trek! We can't wait to share more updates as their adventure continues.

A look back at our Silver DofE Expedition!

Earlier this month, 37 of our students successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition in the beautiful Cotswolds.

Despite the warm weather, our students rose to every challenge, demonstrating fantastic teamwork, resilience and independence as they navigated unfamiliar routes, cooked their own meals on Trangia stoves and camped overnight.
