French GCSE Tuition - at your home in
Bucks, Berks, Oxfordshire & Middlesex.
——————————————————————
** Nationwide, Online Service Also Offered **

• All Levels Taught - Beginner to GCSE - Adults & Children. Competitive Rates. Very Patient Tutor. Flexible time/day to suit parent & pupil. In-Depth Knowledge of AQA Syllabus. DBS Checked. •

This particular advert is aimed at
pupils moving into Year 11 in Sept 2018.
=============================
* Is a teenager starting Year 11 in September? Did they struggle a little with French in Year 10 or get disappointing end of year exam results? *

- Would a pupil like opportunity to fully revise & be able to ask any questions? To start Year 11 with more confidence, be fully up to speed & ready for more challenging learning?

- If a student found Year 10 somewhat hard to fully follow, French gets more complex in Year 11. New GCSE topics are covered, eg Social & Environmental Issues, Climate Change, Dangers of the Internet & with them, challenging vocab’s introduced.

- By Year 11, pupils should be fully competent in all verb tenses & demonstrate use frequently. Consider French has over 100 irregular verbs to learn. Pupils ask me to explain when to use tenses, how to form them & how to remember which verbs are irregular.

- All pupils benefit from additional tuition. Did a student get Grade 8 in end of year exam but would like further assistance to aim for 9 in GCSE?

- The term ‘summer learning loss’, applies to long, summer holiday. It occurs in subjects in pupils’ native language. In foreign languages, essential learning’s more likely to be forgotten. It’s, therefore, wise for students to continue tuition in summer, refresh vital tenses, recap vocab & grammar.

** When going from Year 10 to 11, it’s critical to avoid ‘learning loss’. Starting Year 11 is challenging, particularly if pupils didn’t fully grasp all in Year 10 & they won’t able to catch up in class. **

Good luck to ALL GCSE and BTEC Level 2 students for Results Day tomorrow 24th August. School is open from 9am to 11am.

🆕 Year 12's please come into Aylesbury UTC before 1pm to confirm your Sixth Form place.

Advice and guidance will be available.

Collecting your GCSE results is probably the first time you’ve received official academic results in person!

Before GCSE results day

GCSE results day 2023 is on Thursday 24 August.

Try your best to not worry too much about results day as it approaches. Eat normally and get plenty of sleep the night before. Be open with your parents about your upcoming results and any worries you may have – they’re there to help!

What to take on GCSE results day

Have a think about whether you'd prefer to collect and open your results with your parent(s), in a group of friends for moral support, or perhaps just on your own.

Make sure your phone is charged so you can call your family and friends once you receive your results.

Take some photo identification just in case, though it should be a teacher or someone who knows you.

Opening your results

You can either open your results alone, with your family or with your friends – it’s completely up to you!

If you want to open your results with as few people around you as possible, go into school early. If you go in later, there will be more people hanging around who've already collected their results.

What those grades mean and why they matter

English and maths
You should obtain at least a grade 4 or 5 (formerly a grade C) in these subjects no matter what your plans are.

Colleges and sixth forms look for these as a basic requirement to continue your studies with them.

If you don't make the grades, you can resit the exams – but more on that below.

Similarly, it's important to meet any grade requirements you've been set for the subjects you've chosen to study at a higher level.

Didn't get the GCSE grades you hoped for?

You'll hear this a lot, but don’t panic if things don't go to plan. This isn’t the end of the world, even if it feels like it. You have a number of options and paths open to you.

Appealing a GCSE grade

If you want to query a grade – perhaps one is unusually low compared with others and you weren’t expecting this, or you’ve narrowly missed a grade boundary – speak to your teacher in the subject or your head of year. They can request that the exam board reviews the marking of your exam entry.

Do this as soon as possible, ideally, on results day itself when you pick up your results.

If you’re a private candidate you can either get in touch with the exam board directly, or do it via the school or college that submitted your exam entry.

If reviewing your exam doesn’t lead to anything, you can still retake it.

GCSE resits

If you don’t achieve at least a grade 4 or 5 (formerly a C) in your maths and English GCSEs, you’ll have to resit these to proceed to A-level (or other) study. Resits for these can be taken in November.

🪞Reflections on Academic Year 2022 2023.

WOW, so much was celebrated and to be proud of. Just a few photos of memories.

✅️ Aylesbury UTC has now been open for 1️⃣0️⃣ years. Since starting as Bucks UTC, we are now part of Merchant Taylors' Oxfordshire Academy Trust.

✅️ So many of our alumni are in the career jobs they wished for when they first joined the UTC. Whether they experience university, apprenticeships or are directly employed.

✅️ The King Charles III coronation, lots of employer partner visits including NHS, Royal Bucks Hospital, Cisco, Pinewood and many more. In the Amazon Challenge we won🏆. Four open events, career workshops and work experience.

✅️ The Computing department is growing all the time. With additional teaching staff and new equipment. Moving with the fast-paced digital technologies. 💻

✅️ The new Health & Social Care Suite was opened in July 2023, and our Year 10 Health students are so lucky to have a brand new state-of-the-art learning environment at their fingertips.

✅️ Aylesbury UTC has a professional vision of " Sending every young person into the world ABLE & QUALIFIED. " and that's what every member of staff at Aylesbury UTC works hard for. Our students and their families.

✅️ Always sad to see the Yr 11 and 13 students leaving. But excited for some to be staying with us for Sixth Form and welcome the new students joining us soon.

✍️TALENT FOR WRITING

Year 10 students had the opportunity to enter a poetry competition where they were challenged with writing a poem in which they could have their say in verse.

They were asked to write about what they cared about and consider worldwide issues such as:

🟰equal rights
✌️ war or poverty...

Our students did a fantastic job, and these amazing 6 students were selected as winners! 🙂
