Thank you for the continued interest in my business - it means a lot 💜

I have had a number of enquiries about 1:1 face to face support outside of school hours.

Outside of school hours, I'm currently at capacity and am only offering face to face 1:1 sessions for new clients during school holidays at present. If term-time slots become available, I will form more groups so that I can accommodate more children who are waiting for support.

During school hours, I'm currently at capacity, however pupil circumstances can change regularly so please do get in touch if you are looking for 1:1 support during school hours.

I'm always more than happy to support parents to support their children, recommend other providers and support fellow professionals so please feel free to get in touch 💜

PDA is about far more than simply “refusing to do as you are told”.

The signs can be much more subtle.

A child may delay, negotiate, distract, charm, withdraw, become another character, suddenly insist they cannot do something they genuinely wanted to do — or become overwhelmed by what appears to be a very small expectation.

What adults see as defiance, manipulation or controlling behaviour may actually be a child trying to reduce the pressure they are experiencing and regain a sense of autonomy.

And presentation can change enormously between settings. A child who appears to manage beautifully at school may unravel completely once they reach the safety of home.

As always, individual traits do not equal PDA. It is the pattern, intensity and impact that matter.

Understanding what is driving the behaviour is where better support begins.

Children are going to be life-long learners so learning how to learn is essential. We've spent time over the past week thinking about learning powers and how we can use these in daily life.

I asked a pupil what they had learned in one of our sessions and they said 'I am a great learner!'

It was great to be back teaching my Sunday groups this morning 🤩 It's always a pleasure to see familiar faces again after a break and to meet new members of our learning teams 💜 As always, the ever-expanding treasure chest of fidgets was a hit!

Thinking of all pupils, parents/carers and educators who are returning to (or supporting someone who is returning to) education this week or next, whether that's in a traditional setting or alternative provision.
