This week was all about Pirates and Mermaids!
The children had great fun making mermaid potions, mixing different colours and using different tools to move the water around. We made our own treasure maps, used tea to paint with and went on a treasure hunt around Pre-School. We all now know 'X' marks the spot!

[09/10/20]   It has been lovely seeing new and familiar faces at Pre-School.

Please make sure you are following the the school’s one-way clockwise drop-off and pick-up system (follow the yellow arrows) to minimise contact with other families.
We rely on your support to make the system work effectively and you can help us by being punctual and leaving the site swiftly, keeping a 2 meter distance between you and the family in front.

If you need any further information regarding this, please contact the office.

The successful candidate will have experience in the Early Years Education sector and be confident in leading aspects of practice within our setting, having previously managed their own small team.

Applicants must hold a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Early Years childcare and have a minimum of two years’ experience of leadership or management within an Early Years setting.

[07/24/20]   Dear Parents,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through all the latest guidance in conjunction with the school and Bucks CC to find a way to re-open the OSC service in September.

We will be able to offer a BC and ASC service for children in Pre-School, Foundation, Year 1, and Year 2 within the Pre-School room. We will have 2 bubbles with a maximum 15 children in each every day. One bubble will be a mix of Pre-School and Foundation children, the other will be a mix of Year 1 and Year 2 children. We will do our best to keep each year group separate as much as possible.

We will be contacting parents in these year groups to confirm/book sessions next week. We will be offering snacks of breadsticks/cheddars and fruit but will be unable to provide meals at least for the first half term.

Sadly we are unable to accommodate Years 3 and above but we are still working hard to arrange provision for these year groups. We will update you as soon as we have more news.

Many thanks,
Long Crendon Pre-School and Out of School Club

Pre-School

Here's a little look inside Pre-School

23/07/2020

Hello everyone, here’s a little look into our Pre-School.

To enter Pre-School, children will come into our cloakroom, you will get a bag to keep a change of clothes and other belongings and your own peg to hang coats on. You also get your own tray where you will get your own pencil case filled with; pens, pencils, scissors, glue, your own chalk set and a book.

We offer a lovely large space that is organised into areas that the children can freely access throughout Pre-School sessions.
We have the small world area with dolls house, play people, animals and dinosaurs along with the construction area which includes Duplo, blocks and Popoids to create your own open-ended play.

There is also a mark making area is filled with lots of resources such as paper, clipboards, cards and envelopes as well as stencils and pictures; so the children can colour, draw and cut to their hearts content.
The Maths area is filled with resources to help the children learn basic math concepts such as numbers, puzzles, books, shapes and stencils.

Our carpet area is used throughout the day. We have circle time and story time, it is used for big play such as the train set and cars, we are also lucky enough to use the board where we can play games, listen to music, sing, dance and watch videos.

We also have a dedicated book corner; this is a quiet space for children to go and look at books. We offer picture books, stories, and non-fiction books. These change daily and support our curriculum which changes every half term.

We have a lovely home corner which is set up as a little kitchen for children to act out first-hand experiences. We offer lots of props and dressing up clothes for children to use in their play.
We have an arts and craft area where painting, gluing, playdough is on offer continuously.

In addition to the spacious and varied indoor zones, we have a lovely and big outside space that children have access to throughout the session which has a construction, mark making, water and sand area. We also have a soft surface track for children to use their gross motor skills and ride big vehicles, climb on the climbing frame, climbing wall and slide.
At the top of the garden are our mud kitchens with resources such as pots, pans and spoons to help make potions and cakes. We have a stage area with props and musical instruments for children to perform to one another.
Finally our wild area. We have created a brilliant wild area and bug hotel for the children to explore.
We join onto the school site where we occasionally take a walk around their field and wild area.

We hope to see you soon

[07/03/20]   Remember today is the last day to give permission for your child's photo to appear in our school leavers photo and to supply a photo if you would prefer a more recent one to be used. If your child is attending we are happy to take a new photo here - just let us know. We would love for them all to be included.

For anyone attending on Monday or Tuesday in the Blue Bubble who would be happy to switch to a Thursday or Friday please can you let us know as a parent would be very grateful for a space.

We have lots of space available at ASC until 4.30pm for PS children currently attending sessions if you would like to book an ad-hoc before the end of term. Please let us know.

Please check junk folders for recent emails from us as it sounds like that's where they all go! Try adding us to your contacts list to see if that helps.

Boris goes Camping

Hi everyone!
Hope you all had a lovely day. Today at Pre-School the children enjoyed making a little camp in the garden, so we found a camping story to read with you all.
Hope you enjoy Emma :)

29/06/2020

Today we have been mixing colours! Have you got some paint at home you can mix? What colours can you make when you mix red and yellow, blue and yellow or red and blue?

25/06/2020

Good morning everyone! How well do you all know your letter sounds? We have a game of alphabet lotto you might want to play and also some "colour by letter" sheets. If you haven't got a printer maybe you could pick a letter and race with somebody to find something beginning with that letter.
Have fun!

24/06/2020

Good morning everyone! Today we thought you might like to play a game of Shape Snap. If you are able to print off the sheet below, you will need at least 2 copies. Then cut each picture out carefully, mix them all up together well and deal them out equally between 2 players. Turn one picture over taking turns and shout "SNAP" when you get a match.
Can you describe all of the colours and name the bugs in the pictures too?
Have fun!

23/06/2020

Good morning everyone, today we are learning about rhythms and beats. Can you make a musical instrument? Maybe a drum or a shaker, if not just use a saucepan and wooden spoon. Then try banging in time to a beat or to your favourite song. Let's make some music!

22/06/2020

Good morning everyone! Today we have been talking about words that rhyme. Can you suggest some words that rhyme, maybe you can make up some funny words that rhyme? See if you can find the words that don't rhyme on the sheet below.
Later we will have a story, do you have any stories at home that rhyme?

18/06/2020

Daddy Pig's Lost Keys

Good morning everyone! Today we are getting ready for a special day, on Sunday this week it is Father’s Day so the children have been making cards for their Dads. Have you made a card for your Dad?

We also thought you might like a story from Emma, so join us to hear a story about Peppa Pig’s Daddy losing his keys!

16/06/2020

Good morning everyone! Today we are talking about school uniform. Do you have a new uniform ready for September or do your brothers or sisters have to wear a uniform? We would love to see some drawings of children in school uniform - what colours do they wear?
Look at the photo of the dolls' house - it has been invaded by dinosaurs and animals! What's happening in your dolls' house today?

15/06/2020

Good morning everyone, what a lovely sunny morning!
Today we are making shapes, can you make some shapes outside with sticks or stones? Also look at these lovely dot to dot pictures, do you have any dot to dot pictures you could do at home? We would love to see some photos!

09/06/2020

Good morning everyone👋,

Today’s challenge is to build a tower!

Can you count how many blocks it takes to build your tower?
Can you make a pattern, if you are using coloured blocks?
What other things can you build a tower out of?

We would love to see pictures of your tower creations!!

Have fun and we will see you tomorrow.

08/06/2020

Hi everyone 👋, hope you all had a lovely weekend.

At Pre-School we are teaching the children the do’s and don’ts of returning, to make sure everyone stays safe.

Below is a selection of pictures of things we can do and things we shouldn’t do, to help us stay well. This is the same for in Pre-School and out and about.

The pictures are-
• Play tag with our friends
• High fives
• Air high fives
• Hugs
• Washing our hands
• Sitting at our desks, and putting our hand up to speak to the teacher
• Air hugs
• Touching our faces

Can you select the picture of what we can do and what we shouldn’t be doing at the moment?

See you tomorrow 🙂

03/06/2020

Hey everyone,

For today's challenge do you think you could blow some bubbles or make your own bubble mixture?

Can you be creative and make your own bubble wands out of pipe cleaners and mould a shape circle, heart?

How fast will the bubbles fly?

Have fun 🙂

22/05/2020

Hey Everyone

Here are some challenges for you to complete today and over the weekend! 🙂

Challenge 1: Bird hunt🐦
• What birds have you seen in your garden? How many?
• Do you think you could make a bird feeder for them?
You could use a pipe cleaner to put chunks of apple, cheese, raisins or cheerios on it and then hang it up around to decorate your garden

Challenge 2: Cloudy skies☁️
• While outside look up at the clouds what shapes do they make?
• Are they moving fast or slow?
Can you draw or make your own cloud?
Will yours be a happy white cloud or an angry thunder cloud?

Have fun and enjoy your weekend!
Emma 😃
