In December 2023 we lost a cherished member of the Aylesbury Grammar School community. Tom Giles played in the School 1st XV and left AGS after his A-levels in 2020 to study at the University of York where he continued playing rugby.
In recent years Tom’s friends from school and university have come together to play in an annual football match in his memory. This year we are extending the invite to anyone who knew Tom to come, watch the game, and join us in celebrating his life.

⚽ Old Aylesburian 6-a-side Football Tournament Returns!

Calling all Old Aylesburians! Join us on Friday 11 September, 4.30pm–7.30pm, for an afternoon of football, fun and friendly competition on our fantastic new 3G pitch.

Whether you’re still playing regularly or dusting off the boots for old times’ sake, we’d love to welcome you back to AGS.

After the tournament, stay on in the Quad for pizza, drinks and a chance to catch up with fellow OAs.

📱 Student Committee for Change: Promoting Digital Wellbeing

This year, the Student Committee for Change has continued to promote digital wellbeing and healthy habits across AGS.

Students have researched, created and delivered assemblies on important topics, including healthy technology use. Following the success of last summer’s Digital Detox Challenge, feedback from over 300 students helped shape future projects and discussions.

A key achievement has been the creation of a student-led poster campaign highlighting the impact of mobile phone use on wellbeing, which will be displayed around the School from September.

Looking ahead, the committee will turn its attention to improving our shared School environment, focusing on reducing litter and encouraging everyone to take greater care of our facilities.

🏆 Brodie and Watson Trophy Winners Announced

Congratulations to Lee House and Hampden House, who have been crowned winners of this year’s Brodie and Watson Trophies! 🎉

Lee secured the Brodie Trophy with an impressive 49.5 points, finishing ahead of Paterson (36 points), with Denson and Ridley sharing third place (35.5 points). Hampden claimed the Watson Trophy with 32 points, followed by Phillips (23 points) and Denson and Lee joint third (20 points).

Well done to all students who have participated in House events throughout the year. These competitions are a huge part of belonging, camaraderie and School life at AGS, bringing students together across year groups to represent their Houses with pride.

Every House celebrated success during the year, making it another fantastic year of competition, teamwork and House spirit. 👏

Farewell to Valued Members of Staff 👏

As the academic year draws to a close, we say farewell to four valued colleagues who have made an outstanding contribution to the AGS community.

We thank Mrs Richards, Mrs Millar, Mrs Mawdsley and Mr Holmes for their dedication, care and commitment to our students and School. Across teaching, pastoral leadership and wider support, they have each made a lasting impact on the lives of many students and colleagues.

We wish them every happiness and success for the future, and thank them for everything they have given to AGS. 💙💛

A Year to Celebrate for AGS Sport & PE 🏆

As the academic year draws to a close, it’s fantastic to reflect on the many achievements, successes and opportunities across Sport and PE at AGS.

A huge well done to every student who has taken part, represented the School, supported their teammates and challenged themselves to improve. Your commitment, enthusiasm and hard work have made this such a successful year.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our staff, who generously give their time and energy to provide these opportunities for our students. This snapshot highlights just some of the staff involved across 10 different departments.

⚔️ Year 10 Visit the National Army Museum

Year 10 enjoyed a fantastic day at the National Army Museum, taking part in an engaging and interactive workshop on the English Civil War.

Students also had the opportunity to experience military training activities, with some impressive results! A brilliant day of learning beyond the classroom.

Thank you to Mr Barrie for organising the visit and to everyone involved in making it such a success. 👏
