GCSE RESULTS 2024
Congratulations to the 2024 Year 11 cohort on a fantastic set of GCSE outcomes!
Affected by the COVID lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, and amid a national backdrop of a return to tougher grade boundaries and a drop in top grades, the students have demonstrated resilience and effort achieving brilliantly, with a host of exceptional performances.
With levels of anxiety and uncertainty at their height, whatever the level of success, we are proud of them all and excited for the next stage in their education.
- 69.5% of entries were graded 9-7 and 99.2% graded 9-4.
- 79.7% of students received 5 or more 9-7 grades with 41 students receiving 100% 9-7 grades.
-Exceptional performances from two students who achieved eleven grade 9s, four with ten grade 9s and a further six achieved nine grade 9s.
Headmaster, Mark Sturgeon, commented ‘Following on from the outstanding A Level results last week these outcomes at GCSE are a testament to the incredible resilience and motivation of this group of students.
With the GCSE examinations under so much scrutiny, the cohort have shown that they excel in their understanding and learning of subjects they enjoy and these results provide opportunities for their future.
With such a rich foundation for further study, we congratulate them and their families, alongside our incredible staff who have supported the students throughout the two years of GCSE study.’

A Level Results Day!
Our fantastic students are celebrating advancing to the next stage of their lives today, be it at university, to apprenticeships or the workplace. The grades achieved today will support their aspirations.
We are extremely proud of this cohort’s outcomes with a fantastic set of A level examination results with an overall pass rate of 99.2%.
So many headlines to share
- 21.9% of entries were graded A* and 54.3% of the entries achieving an A* or A grade with 75.8% of entries being graded B or better.
- 67 students (35% of the year group) achieved A* or A grades in all their subjects and 85 students achieved at least three A grades.
- There were a number of exceptional performances, 14 students were rewarded with at least four A* grades each. A further 12 students achieved at least three A* grades each.
-For the second year in a row one student achieved the highest grade in the Country for OCR A Level Business, an impressive achievement.
Mark Sturgeon said ‘These are phenomenal performances. The highest set of top grades the School has seen in non-pandemic adjusted cohorts over the last seven years. The achievements of this group of students has been nothing short of remarkable given the disruption to their education since they were in Year 9.
Against a national return to tougher grading, these results are simply outstanding.
The key outcome for all the students is accessing the next stage of their education or career and we are proud of all the students as they take their next steps in life.
We congratulate them and the staff, and wish them well.
Once an Aylesburian, always an Aylesburian.’

🌟Meet the 2024 - 2025 Aylesbury Grammar School Student Leadership Team 🌟
Welcome to this series where, over the Summer, we will be introducing our Student Leaders for the new School year.
We wish them all every success as Head Boys of School or Head Boys of House.
Last Friday, on the final day of term, was a very special Final Assembly at AGS.
In addition to the usual awards and achievements being recognised and the celebration of Brodie and Watson winners, students also heard from each of our long serving teaching staff in their final addresses at Aylesbury Grammar School.
Mr. Crapper, Mrs. Venning, Mrs. Wilkinson and Mr. Manjengwa each delivered a moving speech imparting powerful advice and words of wisdom to a room full of silent students, listening in deep respect. We thank them all for their incredible contributions to AGS.
Congratulations to all the students and Houses recognised at Final Assembly as another School year came to a close.
Throughout the Summer Holidays, keep an eye out on our Socials as we introduce the new Student Leadership teams for 2024-2025.
Congratulations to Old Aylesburian Craig Wheeler who has been capped and is playing for England over 55s in the Touch Rugby World Cup in Nottingham! A fantastic achievement and we wish him the best of luck from all of us at AGS!
We are delighted to be hosting The Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity over the next 10 days, as they rehearse for their production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre on Saturday 3rd August. The production involves over 100 children and promises to be a fantastic show. Limited tickets still available:
