Let children be children 💛

Let them explore, get messy, laugh, imagine and enjoy because childhood is for playing 🤗

“How was your day?”
“Good”

Sometimes it’s simply about asking a different question to help your little one open up and share more about their day!

Save this post for your next nursery pick-up and give it a try!

📍Great Missenden…. This morning we wandered down to the pumpkin patch at Peterley Manor Farm 🎃 🍂 We had a wonderful time exploring the patch, looking at the different shapes, sizes and colours of the pumpkins. We talked about how they were different from one another and carefully selected some pumpkins to bring back to nursery for everyone to enjoy! It was a lovely autumnal adventure, filled with fresh air, boots and lots of seasonal fun! 🍁 🎃

Whether it’s a morning story to settle in, a post-lunch read, a cosy cuddle on the sofa or a bedtime favourite; every book and every interaction counts.

Reading helps children discover new worlds, build language, understand feelings, spark imagination and make meaningful connections 💭

Because every story has the power to help a child learn, grow and see the world in a new way📖

📍 Great Missenden! This week at The Shepherds Hut 🛖 our theme has been Feelings. We have been thinking about how we feel and using our new feelings chart to help us express and show our emotions. Everyone agreed that spending time outdoors in the beautiful fresh air makes us feel happy! ☀️ We talked about different feelings and explored the things that can make us feel certain ways. We also created some wonderful transient art using natural materials we collected from our woodland area 🌳 We made our own lavender bags to represent the feeling of calm. We had so much fun removing the lavender from the stems and carefully filling our little bags which we were able to take home. The whole site still smells absolutely wonderful! We used the remaining lavender to create magical potions in our mud kitchen. It was a wonderful week of exploring our emotions, connecting with nature and getting creative together!

Come and have a look around our wonderful nursery and meet the amazing team who you might get to work with.

You may think working outdoors is not for you, and so did some of our team. Now they say they could never return to working indoors full time.

✨ THE SHEPHERD’S HUT ✨

We would love to share with you a very special poem written by our wonderful Forest School Leader, Chelsea, especially for our Wendover Leavers’ Party 2026. 💚

Chelsea has captured so many of the precious moments, adventures, laughter and memories our children have shared during their time with us. 🐛🦋

Her beautiful words brought back so many special memories and were a truly heartfelt way to celebrate our leavers and their journey. 🩵

We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did. 📖✨

✨ Wendover Leavers’ Party 2026 ✨

On Friday, we said some very special goodbyes to our wonderful Wendover leavers as they leave us to begin their next adventures at school and home education.

We have had the absolute privilege of watching each and every one of them grow into the wonderful little people they are today. We are so incredibly proud of them all and will miss their little faces, personalities and laughter more than they know.

We celebrated their achievements alongside their wonderful families, sharing happy memories, stories and a few emotional moments along the way. It was such a special afternoon and one we will treasure.

A huge thank you for all the incredibly generous gifts and beautiful cards, many of which contained such touching words. They truly mean so much to us and will be treasured.

To our amazing leavers… go and shine, little ones!
We wish you all the happiness, success and wonderful adventures in the world. Never stop being the incredible little people you are. 💫

We will miss you all dearly, but we are so excited to see where life takes you next. ❤️
