Having established Chiltern Forest School we have watched school-age children thrive through outdoor learning and play. Seeing first-hand the positive impact Forest School has on the children, and in response to demand, we decided to extend this opportunity to pre-school children by opening our unique Outdoor Day Nursery. Through the magic of our beautiful outdoor setting, we combine child care with education allowing children to flourish and grow as individuals. We provide a foundation upon which children can learn whilst nurturing their personal and social development.
Based near Wendover on an enclosed and picturesque piece of farmland, in the foothills below Coombe Hill, The Shepherdβs Hut Outdoor Day Nursery comprises a number of structures. Designed with children at heart, we have a heated yurt for indoor activities, quiet time and inclement weather. Alongside this we have a designated Forest School area, mud kitchen, a fruit and vegetable patch where we will grow, cultivate and eat our harvest.
