We are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. Bearbrook Combined School and Pre School joins with the nation and Commonwealth to reflect on the incredible life and service of Her Majesty the Queen and will be holding some special events to support the staff and children.
The school will be closed on Monday 19th September as it has been declared a Bank Holiday by King Charles III.
Today we marked the loss of an incredible and inspirational lady by recalling our memories, thoughts and tributes on photos of her.
Take time to read through some of the children’s contributions… they are really are very special 🌈🥺🇬🇧👸

Our focus in the Autumn term has the golden thread of History running through so please check out the website next week for updated organisers and plans for what your child will be working on.

WEATHER UPDATE: You will shortly receive a letter detailing plans for the next two days.
The safety of our children, staff and parents at Bearbrook Combined School remains our priority, and therefore we are offering an optional early finish for any parents/carers who would like to collect their child(ren) at 1.00pm on Monday and/or Tuesday to enable pupils to avoid the hottest part of the day and for parents to collect their child safely prior to temperatures soaring.
For Pre-school parents only this will be 12.30pm and lunch club will available. Please email the pre-school office to let them know if you intend to pick up early.
For any parents who are unable to collect early we will keep your children in the coolest parts of the school until usual pick-up time at 3:15pm.
Busy Living After School club will operate as usual unless you are advised otherwise. Busy Living will have access to our air conditioned staff room to help them remain cool.
Please ensure you send your child to school on Monday wearing sun cream, a wide brimmed hat and with a water bottle which they will be able to refill regularly throughout the day. The children have the option of wearing the Bearbrook PE kit (Shorts and Blue PE top/white t-shirt) or blue summer check dresses.

Why not give this a go and apply for a Blue Peter badge - it’s not that hard and there are various ways you can earn it.

It also gives access to 200 venues - something in time for the summer holidays! 🤞😊
Blue Peter - Apply for a Blue badge
The Blue badge is the most iconic badge in the UK! We can’t be entirely sure how many have been awarded since launching in 1963, but we reckon the number is in the millions. Everyone who appears on the show gets a badge, but here’s a step by step guide for how you can get your hands on one!
We’re recruiting! 🐻
We are looking for dynamic and inspirational learning support assistants with the capacity to grow and develop in their role to join the Bearbrook team; experience is not necessary as we are looking for team players who understand the importance of building positive relationships with pupils in order to maximise their potential.

If your child is unwell or has ANY Covid symptoms we recommend that you get a Covid test.
Activities will be posted on Tapestry for the children for those 2 days and we will reassess the situation at the beginning of next week.
Did you go and see it??
Feeling super proud of our little Pre School team that won the Christmas 2021 Lightbox competition. Last week we presented with our award! Amazing work from the children and staff that help put it together x
Well done you lovely lot! 💙 🐻
We have just received the following announcement from GLT regarding tomorrow and the forecast weather conditions:
Great Learners Trust Schools have been advised to move to remote learning on Friday 18th February, due to MET office warnings of dangerously high winds. We are concerned about the safety of children. parents and staff on the way to school in the morning, particularly those that walk or who use home to school transport. The school sites will therefore be closed to pupils.
We apologise to parents and carers for the inconvenience that this will undoubtedly cause, but our risk assessment of the potential for accident or injury requires us to take this step.
Schools are well prepared for the delivery of remote learning, and will implement these plans this evening.
At Bearbrook, our staff are currently working to ensure that remote learning will in place on Dojo/ Tapestry by 9.30am tomorrow morning. There is now an expectation that children should complete remote learning in the event of a school closure.
Have a great half term everyone 🙂
Don’t forget M***i tomorrow!! 🙂
Quick Reminder about Bags to School on Friday.
Today is World Mental Health Day.
Don’t forget tomorrow’s small fundraiser for Bucks Mind who have supported us over the past few years.
The children will need to wear a bright coloured top (children to wear school skirts and trousers as usual) and bring in £1 to put in the bucket.
All proceeds raised will go to Bucks Mind.
Due to the increased number of positive COVID cases and advice from Public Health England we have made the hard decision to cancel Sports Day on Friday.
We are sorry for any disappointment this causes 😞

🚗 We are becoming increasingly concerned about the safety of the children at the beginning and end of the school day in the school staff car park and on the road near the main gates.
As from tomorrow, there will be cones on the yellow zigzag lines and in the school car park entrance gate to prevent people being able to park/ drop off children. We will be closely monitoring this as the safety of our families is our priority. Our barrier is up at the moment to create a safe space for parents and children to walk through ensuring social distancing.
✋ Please do not enter the school car park or park on the zig zag lines. 🛑
Please look out for an email detailing information on a full opening to all pupils on the 8th March.
We can’t wait to see you all 😊
We hope everyone has had a restful break and managed to find time to relax together as a family.
We look forward to welcoming back our keyworker and vulnerable children tomorrow and can’t wait to see all your brilliant achievements online with remote learning continuing for the rest of the school.
You may have heard today’s announcement from the government and we are so looking forward to welcoming back the rest of the school from the 8th March. Please do give us time as we will be reviewing all our risk assessments and putting together plans in order to protect all members of our community. The safety of our staff, parents and children is our number one priority. As soon as more information is given and guidance is released, we will let you know as soon as we can.
Once again, we would all like to thank you for the support, kind words, phone calls, encouraging emails, Dojo and Tapestry comments... we are so proud of everyone and are looking forward to seeing all of your faces once again soon 🐻
