🌿🐞 Our New Eco Project is Underway! 🐝🪲

This week we kicked off an exciting project that will soon become part of our Eco School journey for 2026/2027... we're building a GIANT Bug Hotel! 🏨🐛

During Forest School, our Navigators children got busy collecting all sorts of natural treasures in tissue boxes to help fill the pallets we already have in place. Later in the week, our Inventors children rolled up cardboard and carefully tucked it into the gaps, creating cosy spaces of different sizes for all kinds of creepy crawlies. 🐞🪵🍂

The hotel must be quite appealing already because a ladybird has already moved in! ❤️🐞

We can't wait to keep adding to and improving our incredible bug hotel over time, creating a safe and welcoming home for lots of wildlife to enjoy. Watch this space for updates on our newest residents! 🌱✨

🌳🍂 Forest School Fun! 🍂🌳

This week the children enjoyed a nature treasure hunt, searching for feathers, stones, pine cones, leaves, bark and helicopter seeds. We also climbed trees, pretended to be monkeys, and used magnifying glasses to investigate bugs. The children were excited to discover ants, ladybirds and snails during their outdoor adventure! 🐞🔍🍃

🍎🍰 A Taste of Autumn! 🍰🍎

Earlier this week, one of our wonderful team members brought in some apples fresh from her garden!

The children got stuck in with the chopping, measuring, pouring, and mixing (with a little help from the grown-ups 😊), carefully following the recipe and watching all the ingredients come together.

The result? A scrumptious apple and sultana cake that tasted like autumn in a bowl! 🍂✨

🌽 Harvest Time! 🌽

This week some of our sweetcorn was finally ready to harvest!

There is something truly special about watching a tiny seed transform into something so beautiful and delicious. Every time, it fills us with a sense of awe and wonder and makes us incredibly proud of those who have nurtured these plants from the very beginning.

Our wonderful chef, Jake, cooked the freshly picked sweetcorn for lunch, and the children enjoyed it as a tasty side with their meal. Knowing that it had been grown right here in our nursery made it even more special, and it certainly went down a treat! 🌱💚🌽

🐝🌱 Today's Home-Grown Harvest! 🌱🐝

Today we enjoyed harvesting our very own home-grown "running beans", as the children like to call them! We added them to our pasta dish for lunch.

The children were fascinated to discover that the bright red colours on the beans disappeared during cooking, and they loved seeing how the beans changed. Best of all, the pasta tasted delicious, and everyone enjoyed trying something they had helped to grow themselves! 🍝💚
