Our children have loved exploring every corner of our brand new and exciting outdoor space, from riding bikes and developing their physical skills on our climbing equipment to discovering all the new opportunities for adventure and play.
A particular favourite has been our new allotment area, where the children have been busy watering, caring for our plants and learning about how things grow. Through nurturing our flowers, fruits and vegetables, they're developing a sense of responsibility, patience, and an appreciation for the natural world.
Outdoor play offers so many wonderful learning opportunities, and it's been lovely to see the children so active, curious, and engaged in their environment.
We can't wait to watch our garden and our little gardeners continue to flourish over the coming weeks!

A trip to the park!
Our nursery walks are full of more than fresh air and fun—they’re rich learning experiences linked to the EYFS.
During our trip to the park, children are:
🏃♀️ Developing strength, balance, and coordination
🗣️ Chatting about what they see and hear along the way
👫 Learning to stay together, take turns, and follow simple rules
🌼 Exploring nature and noticing changes in the environment
🎨 Using their imagination in outdoor play

Cardboard box play (Imagination play)
📦✨ From cardboard boxes to big adventures! 🚗✈️🚂
In nursery, a simple cardboard box can become a car, a train, or even a rocket! But this kind of imaginative play is doing so much more than sparking fun—it’s supporting key areas of learning in line with the EYFS.
As children turn boxes into transport, they are:
🌟 Developing imagination and creativity (Expressive Arts & Design)
🗣️ Building language and storytelling skills as they create journeys (Communication & Language)
🤝 Learning to play together, share ideas, and take on roles (Personal, Social & Emotional Development)

Our home portraits
🏡🎨 Our homes, our stories!
In nursery, drawing and painting our own houses is more than just a creative activity—it’s a wonderful way to support learning across the EYFS.
As children create their homes, they are:
🖌️ Expressing their ideas and creativity (Expressive Arts & Design)
🗣️ Talking about who they live with and what makes their home special (Communication & Language)
💛 Building a sense of identity and belonging (Personal, Social & Emotional Development)
✋ Developing fine motor skills through drawing and painting (Physical Development)

✂️ Why are we using scissors in nursery? Because we’re building future writers! ✏️
Learning to hold and use scissors is about so much more than cutting paper, it’s a key step in developing pre-writing skills.
As children snip, they are:
✨ Strengthening the small muscles in their hands
✨ Developing fine motor control needed for pencil grip
✨ Practising using both hands together (one to hold, one to cut)
✨ Improving hand-eye coordination
✨ Learning to follow lines and directions
