😁 It’s National Smile Week! 😁

Preschool has been full of smiles this week. We wanted to share the reasons that make our Tiny Acorns children smile!

Today is Heart Day! ❤️ We have been talking about the importance of looking after our hearts and keeping our bodies healthy. We discussed how we can care for our bodies by eating a healthy, balanced diet, enjoying plenty of fruit and vegetables, drinking water, staying active and getting enough rest.

We then decided to explore our healthy foods through still-life drawing! 🎨🍎🥕 We provided the toddlers with a range of colourful fruits and vegetables to observe and draw. The children did so well, taking their time to look carefully at the different shapes, colours and textures.

It was lovely to see their creativity and concentration as they created their own fruit and vegetable masterpieces! 🌈🖍️

Before children can begin writing, they need to develop essential skills such as core strength, shoulder stability, coordination and body awareness!

Here in our Baby Room, we build these important foundations through fun, age-appropriate activities such as scarf dancing, tap-tap sticks, large-scale mark making, finger painting, window washing, water play, crawling, climbing and sensory exploration! 🧽

Through these everyday experiences, our babies are developing the strength, coordination and control they need for future writing skills — all while having fun, exploring and learning through play! 🌟

Every little movement is an important step in their learning journey.

Treasure Basket Exploration!

✨ This morning, our babies had lots of fun exploring a treasure basket filled with natural and sensory resources. They enjoyed discovering pinecones, wooden rings, brushes, soft cloths, and a variety of wooden and metal objects.

It was wonderful to see them using their senses to explore the different textures, shapes, sounds, and materials while developing their curiosity and confidence through play. 🌿

As they explored, they were developing their physical development through reaching, grasping and holding different objects. They were also building their communication & language as they made sounds, reacted to the different objects and shared their discoveries with the adults around them.

Most importantly, they were curious, engaged and learning through their own play and exploration. 🤎

September is Self-Care Awareness Month, so our Mental Health Champion has put together some little self-care baskets for our staff teams!

Working in Early Years can be incredibly busy, and we wanted to give them a little reminder that their wellbeing matters too.

The baskets are filled with a few treats and self-care goodies, along with some simple reminders about taking time for yourself, setting boundaries, celebrating your progress and being kind to yourself.

Sometimes even the smallest bit of self-care can make a difference.

🎨✨ Happy International Dot Day! 🎨✨
'Just make a mark and see where it takes you!'

Here at Tiny Acorns we are celebrating Dot Day by reading 'The Dot', which inspired us to get creative and make our own colourful creations! In Toddlers, they used a variety of recycled materials to paint on, showing the children that we can turn everyday items into something creative and fun. ♻️🎨✨

Over in Preschool, the children have been getting creative too! They used stacking cups, cotton buds and even their fingers to create their very own dotty masterpieces. 🔴🟡🔵

While exploring the garden, we even spotted a little ladybird! 🐞 The children loved having a closer look before letting it continue on its adventure.

A lovely day full of creativity, curiosity and exploring! ✨

The babies enjoyed exploring paint and dried cereal using their hands. They crushed the cereal and mixed it into the paint, creating different textures, patterns and marks. ✨

They experimented with a variety of colours🌈 and enjoyed feeling, squashing and mixing the materials together. The babies were curious and engaged throughout the activity, discovering new ways to explore the paint and enjoying a fun sensory experience!🎨

Our preschool children have been learning all about composting, recycling, and caring for our planet this Zero Waste Week!

We’re making our very own compost using recycled materials from our homes and our food scraps from snack and mealtimes. The children have loved helping to collect, sort and add our composting materials.

We’re excited to watch our compost change over time and eventually use it to help our plants and garden grow. 🌻🌱
