On Friday, 10 musicians from Year 10 and 12 took their instruments to Booker Park Primary School as part of their Jubilee celebrations. As a whole band, the students performed several numbers including the National Anthem, Ni**od by Elgar and an assortment of nursery rhymes. We also had solo numbers on guitar/piano and voice with Booker Park students clapping and dancing along. We can't wait to visit again in the future!

Last week we had the privilege of having Peter Sawyer (former SHFGS student) come to deliver history workshops to Year 7 on the 100 Years War. In character, he recreated the tactics of the Battle of Crecy and demonstrated the armour and weaponry that was used, including a longbow demonstration on the field.

"The way that we were included in the activities really helped to bring it to life, as well as providing a fun, interactive workshop. My favourite activity was when we went out to the field and shot some arrows with a longbow. It was exciting and felt like we were really immersing ourselves in our learning."

We are an outstanding grammar school near the centre of Aylesbury, serving children of all genders and offering A Levels and GCSEs. Our mixed environment gives students an environment in which children of all genders challenge each other’s academic perspectives, share leadership roles and help to shape their emotional intelligence.

This weekend our Gold The Duke of Edinburgh's Award students set out on a four day practice expedition run by Zest for Adventure .

Each day students walk around 23km over the hills with full rucksacks containing all they require for their self sufficient expedition (all food, tent, sleeping bag etc...) They pitch tents at the campsite and cook their food in camping stoves. Today is their last day and we wish them all the best!

We love seeing our students get creative!

Our Year 7 PRE students were tasked with designing a sacred space using items from their lives.

Ameline's sacred space was inspired by Christianity and Zen Buddhism.

Luis, Mik’ael and Nathan's sacred space was Fortnite inspired complete with prayer rooms.

Well done, kids!

Today's tip comes from Mrs Thomson in RAO:

We see lots of students in RAO for lots of different reasons. Many of the conversations start with, "This is going to sound really silly but..." In my job it is important for me to remember that something that may seem trivial to me on the surface might just be the final straw for that student. We all need to be strong and resilient to get through the ups and downs of daily life, but we should also recognise that sometimes we may need a bit of help. Please do come to see us in RAO to discuss whatever mud you're wading through before it gets too deep. Please also be kind to others - their mud may be deeper than yours - or maybe they have shorter legs!
