Autumn Leaves 🍂🍁

Leaf crowns were one of the highlights of this week! A beautiful trip to the Arboretum gave us so many lovely leaves to choose from!

And the other was definitely when the ponies came to see us while we had lunch in the garden! 🐴

🍏 Apples! 🍎

A few weeks ago we headed off to a beautiful community orchard and picked lots of delicious apples.
We also managed to find some pears 🍐 and some damsons too!

We invited our friends over and we all used our big muscles to make some tasty apple juice! The squeals of delight as the juice came out was so lovely to hear and it was so worth all of the hard work!

We listened to the story of how the apple tree got it's star and we stamped these in paint to show the beautiful patterns inside 🎨

The Little Red Hen 🐔 🍞

I couldn't resist painting these lovely story spoons to add to our collection. The children got stuck in straight away acting out the story!

We managed to bring so much into this topic, from playing playdough on our topic table, to visiting a local farm and meeting their animals, to making our own bread (several times!) and even grinding wheat in the pestle and mortar to make our own flour! 🌾

And what autumnal week would be complete without a trip to our local Arboretum! The ditch was our favourite spot in particular, seeing how many different ways we could get over it 😁

Thank you to Kim 'Hughes' Joslyn and Tiny Turtles Childcare. We are very thankful to you for the wonderful little friends you bring and the energy and kindness that you add to our days 🥰

Sorry for the radio silence, sometimes social media needs to take a back seat!

We've been plodding along beautifully all the same ❤️

Our conservatory got an autumnal makeover last week, the children like to get involved in putting all of the decorations up so I make sure we do this together 🍂 we spent lots of time at home making the most of the calmer rhythm now that the older children have gone back to school but we couldn't resist a walk to the fairy doors and a cheeky babyccino! 🍁

I've made new sensory bottles for the children and our water canvas is still a huge hit even after being up for a few weeks now.

Watch this space for lots more autumn shenanigans!

Our last two days were spent enriching our wellbeing with lots of time with friends, lots of fresh air and some delicious banana cake baking!

I feel like we have all benefited from being extra kind to ourselves this week.

I'm looking forward to seeing what next week brings ❤️

This week we are looking at being kind to ourselves 💕

The colour monster has taken over our table today with all sorts of emotions going on.
❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜

And then it was on the bus to town where we looked for fruits that were all of the colours of the rainbow to keep our bodies healthy!
These plus a vegetable and lentil lasagna made for a truly nourishing lunch.

Our tortoise Merlin decided to make an appearance today too, I think we are all enjoying the sunshine! 🐢 ☀️

Half term didn't disappoint!

Myself and two other childminders hired the local pavilion and set up lots of Luna New Year activities for the children. 🌝 ♥️
We got to spend hours in the park and had so much fun!

We coloured, read stories, painted, built Lego, played with more sensory trays, enjoyed seeing Albus our pet snake 🐍 and even walked across a few muddy fields to the next village to get ice-cream 🍨 🤩

We looked at Valentine's last week and it was so lovely to set up this sensory tray in our new table.
The children's role play with such a simple idea was beautiful to watch unfold.
They 'cooked' for each other, packaged gifts, surprised each other with what they had created, counted the hearts and decorated the plant with them and much more
Such a small invitation to play created so many hours of fun ❤️

This new year has been a whirlwind of gentle excitement ❤️

We've changed to me providing lunches so the children can get more involved in preparing food and it's been a huge success.

We've been to museums, wildlife hospitals, eaten haggis for the first time, made shortbread, looked after baby dolls, litter picked and much much more!
