Had another awesome lesson with Charlie on Saturday.. Thank you central dressage for organising them, I can't wait for the next one 👍
Great lesson with Charlie Hutton today, thanks Central Dressage! 😊🐴
Thanks to Kim and all the team for a great weekend. Always so well organised and a great atmosphere!! 😄👍🐴🐴
Although I am aching so much and maybe it wasn't the best decision being almost 6 months pregnant and attending camp ! ...but I have camp blues today 😞 so wanted to ride my horse in the sun with Henry Boswell again - learnt so much in just a short time and cannot wait to put it into practice competing Saturday 😀 thanks to Kim and everyone who organised 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
An amazing event and more importantly an amazing group . It allows EVERYONE to have
access to the best trainers and coaches and I cannot wait for the next big event ! Thank you Central dressage and thank you to all the the passionate people that are behind the helm of providing training and education
Fabulous weekend! Great organisation, superb coaching and really interesting and informational lectures! Good pace of activities and Addington's facilties are just superb - so nice to have a 'temp' stable that is big enough! Thank you Kim and all the Team
Thank you so much for an amazing weekend. I had Andrew Gould. Andrew was brilliant. He got my horses issues without even telling him straight away and the comments were the same as my own train and sees where we're both going. His eye on the ground was incredible. Which was brilliant for me. Andrew Bennie again was a brilliant lesson for me too. We don't do much poles as my horses gets stupid. He was very brave and got the ideas of the exercise straight away without being silly and I will use everything I've learnt and work on at home. I will def be having some more lessons with Andrew Gould. Thank you for all your hard work for making it a great weekend.
Just in from an amazing weekend at Central Dressage camp, Addington. The organisation was second to none. Awesome trainers. Brilliant presentations too. Thank you so much Kim Maria & Wesley! Hats off to you guys 👏🏻X

Jennie Loriston-Clarke: ‘Are we sacrificing horses’ soundness for the wow factor?’ - Horse & Hound SOUNDNESS is such an important topic from a breeding point of view. Many dressage horses seem to require specialist treatments during their careers nowadays, and I wonder whether this is because we are now breeding horses to have such huge, elastic paces that their bones and joints can’t quite kee...

RIP Linda x

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Chairman, Linda Whetstone. Linda was a stalwart of our sport, having dedicated over six decades of her life to her passion for dressage as a rider, judge and volunteer. She was also a pioneer and innovator, instrumental in the foundation and success of British Dressage, including the development of our National Championships and Area Festivals. A former Chair of the British Equestrian Federation Council, her loss will be keenly felt by many of her colleagues and friends within the equestrian community. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Linda’s family at this time. We will be making a full tribute shortly and will keep members updated with any information we receive about a memorial service in due course.

Super vets. Highly recommend. Lovely job for someone.

A position has become available within the Buckingham Equine Vets to join our reception team.
The role would suit someone with equine experience keen to support all veterinary activities. The job would be office based, located at our main clinic in Wicken. Responsibilities would include telephone handling, client communication, vet diary planning, other administrative roles, and sometimes initiating veterinary action as rapidly as possible. Basic computer skills and equine knowledge are essential.
As part of the reception team you have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the equine community – often being the first port of call for owners.
Working hours: 8.30am to 2pm, 3,4, or 5 days a week (depending on preference).
In-house training would be given to the successful candidate in all aspects of the role so no prior experience in required. A desire to work in a close-knit friendly team is important.
For further information about the position please contact our Office Manager, Debbie Spears, at the clinic (tel: 01908 560789). Applicants should email their covering letter and CV to Debbie ([email protected]). Closing date for applications: Friday 26th November 2021

Well deserved. Such a hard working team. Congratulations to all involved.

A very successful trip to Solihull today with 2 of the boys in the Grand Prix!

Absolutely delighted with Sarah Overson’s Hawtins Horatio winning on 72.90%, this being only his 3rd Grand Prix, he is still so new to this level but is such a talented horse and has so much more to come!

We also had Crackerjack Himself (pictured with his owner, Lisa Waller) competing for the first time in over 2 years, doing his first Grand Prix, he scored just under 65%, having a few green moments but so pleased with some of the quality of his work. This was particularly special for me as Crackerjack is one of my homebred horses by Cardinar (out of Freya, one of my foundation mares) and it means so much to have bred and produced him all the way up to Grand Prix level!

Congratulations

We are completely in love with little Tommy .. our family is now complete ❤️

Good luck .
Exciting times ahead.

It's with bittersweet emotions that I can tell you that the wonderful Pumpkin is now owned by Junior rider, Annabella Pidgley.

As many of you know who own horses, run yards and compete, this is certainly not a sport for the faint hearted and comes with many highs and many lows; horses being the incredible levellers that they are.

In order to maintain a position in sport, especially in high level sport, at times, these difficult decisions need to be made. I am so thankful that I do not have to do this regularly, as it is always such a hard thing to let go of animals that we see as our family.

The wonderful thing about this, is Pumpkin will continue his journey under the British flag with a rider and family who I have known for many years. Annabella is one of the most promising riders in our country, and works so hard to develop herself and her horses, whilst giving them nothing but five star care. I will train the pairing, so I am delighted that our precious Pumpkin will stay in my life and I will still see him on a regular basis.

Annabella has had an incredible season this year, achieving Britain's first individual medals at the Junior European Championship level and having taken some time to see her ride Pumpkin and fall for him as much as we have, I know a wonderful new chapter awaits him. I hope you will continue to support this beloved horse and I look forward to all that comes next for him x

Congratulations Buckingham Equine Clinic. So well deserved.

We won!! 🏆🥇 At a gala dinner on Friday evening we were crowned The Equestrian Business Awards winners of Vet Practice of the Year 2021. Most of our team made it up to Nottingham for the black tie event, and we were delighted to bring back a trophy. The awards were started this year to recognise the hard work given by equestrian businesses throughout the UK. With 5,491 nominations for 2,300 businesses and professionals across the 14 categories, we were thrilled to come out on top. Thank you to all the clients who nominated us and their kind words of support. It’s so nice to know our efforts are appreciated. We promise to continue our hard work in the future and strive to improve our services for all the wonderful horses under our care.

In the last 2 weeks we have had a number of clients report that their horse or horses is/are drooling saliva more that they would normally. The good news is that this isn’t anything to really worry about, but action can be taken to stop it, or prevent it happening all together.
This time of year (October) is the time when many fungi like to grow. Due to warm wet weather this Summer and now Autumn the conditions have been perfect for an increase in fungal growth. One particular fungus, Rhizoctonia leguminicola, grows on clover stems and leaves, where it is commonly termed black patch disease. The fungus contains a toxin called slaframine which, when eaten by a horse, causes the salivary glands to produce excessive salivation. Hence the condition in horses is commonly termed Slobbers.
The treatment for the condition is simple: removing the horse from exposure to the clover and fungus. In all the cases we have seen, this has ended in the salivation within 24-28 hours, and no major veterinary intervention has been needed. We do however advise fresh water should be available to prevent dehydration. No horses have stopped eating, and none have had any long-term after effects.
Please note that, though this is currently the most common cause of increased salivation, other conditions may cause the same signs including dental issues and choke. If in doubt, or if your horse stops eating, please call the practice to discuss further. Photo by Roman Fox.
