Today, we held our End of the Academic Year liturgy.

During the liturgy, we said a fond farewell to Miss Crouch as she retires on Wednesday.

Each class designed and gifted Miss Crouch with these beautiful handmade cushions so she can relax into retirement with fond memories of her time at St Mary’s.

Thank you Miss Crouch-you will be missed by us all.

RE: Update regarding early school closure on 24.06.26 & 25.06.26 from Plymouth Cast Trust via Mr Meech, Executive Head

Dear parents and carers.

In light of the hot weather, we have been working alongside Plymouth CAST to review the latest guidance provided by the DFE.

In conjunction with the secondary schools in the area, we are going to close the school at 1pm each day 24.06.26 & 25.06.26 following lunch.

This will ensure the children are not in the school at the height of the heat so we can keep them and staff safe whilst we are in this weather warning.

If you feel your child is especially vulnerable to the heat and are not planning to send them to school tomorrow or Thursday morning then please can you contact the office to discuss this.

Please be assured that we will do all we can to keep your child cool and safe over the next couple of days.

Today, we hosted a thanksgiving mass for the Catholic Children’s Society Plymouth. ✝️✝️

We were delighted to be asked to host a thanksgiving mass for the Catholic Children’s Society, Plymouth at St Mary’s today.

As always, our children showcased their beautiful and joyful singing and our GIFT team confidently led the readings and prayers for us.

It was lovely to have parents, parishioners, governors and members of CCSP joining us for this very special mass.

A big thank you to Father James for leading mass, Mrs Burrough for playing the piano, Mrs Sharp for serving refreshments and to everyone who donated cakes for refreshments. We had so many delicious cakes we were able to share them with all the children enjoying a slice! 🍰🧁🍰🧁

The children were thrilled to receive special bracelets as a momento of this mass from CCSP.

On Thursday 4th June (this Thursday) at 2pm, we are hosting the Catholic Children's Society Plymouth's annual thanksgiving mass. ✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️

We extend a warm invitation to any St Mary's families to join us for this mass.
Mass will be held in the school hall from 2pm. ✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️

Doors will be open from 1.45pm for refreshments in advance of mass and there will be refreshments immediately after too. 🧁☕️🫖🧁☕️🫖

Any donations of cakes to serve would be gratefully received. 🍰🧁🍰🧁

Please do come along if you can. We are excited to have been chosen to host this special mass and share our school with the CCSP community.

Crowning of Mary Liturgy

Today, we held our Crowning of Mary liturgy where a floral crown was placed on our statue of Mary.

May is the month when we celebrate Mary as Queen of Heaven, Jesus’ mother who has gone before us to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Thank you to our GIFT team who led the liturgy for us, Laura and Jacob from Woodpeckers who brought up the floral crown and to Father James for coming in to talk to us about Our Lady Mary and lead us in prayer and blessings.

A special thank you also to Hilary Sharpe (our foundation governor) who made the beautiful floral crowns.
