The Axminster Neighbourhood Policing Team and Nourish is once again teaming up for the Picnics in the Park Extravaganza and free community day, held at the Axe Valley Academy.

Join us for a few hours of fun in the sun, there will be lots of activities and games to keep you occupied and food will be provided by Axe Valley Academy canteen.

• Can you beat the speed gun and set a new high speed?
• Games on the school field kindly provided by Axminster Community Shed
• Static vehicle display by Devon and Cornwall Police
• Static vehicle display by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service
• Craft table provided by The Minster Church

Axminster Town Council, Axminster Care Service and Axminster Community Shed will have display stands where you can learn all about the great work they do in the community and see how you can get involved.

Devon and Cornwall Police Cadets along with the Citizens in Policing Team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about policing.

The day will be opened by Axminster Town Mayor, Jack Price, and we will have a very special visit from Devon and Cornwall Police mascots Juliet and Bravo!

Come along and see what Axminster has to offer, it would be great to see you there!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CLASS OF 2026 who collected their GCSE results today. As ever, we are incredibly of all of you. Mr Crocker, Headteacher says “We are exceptionally proud of our Year 11 cohort who deservedly are celebrating their GCSE results today. This year group have embraced the value of hard work and as a result have secured strong outcomes that have set them up for their next steps. As a cohort, Year 11 have been a delight to work with and have flourished into wonderful young people who are set for great futures. Students are ready to excel in a range of exciting destinations, from highly aspirational academic pathways, to various apprenticeships in skilled trades and vocations.
A huge congratulations to Louie who achieved 3 Grade 9s, 5 Grade 8s and 2 Grade 7s, to Tasmin who also achieved 3 Grade 9s alongside 3 Grade 8s and 2 Grade 7s. Whilst all students should be proud of their superb effort and achievement, there are also some students who deserve some special recognition for their sheer determination and brilliance. Well done to Tabbie, Noah, Ella, Jenny, Sophie, Elisia and Brennan for their incredible individual achievements. We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our Year 11 students the very best – they will certainly be missed and we will follow their future achievements with pride”.

It’s shaping up to be a busy future for this group of friends! 👏 Some of their progression journeys include:

🛩️ Max Gillard (former Uffculme School pupil) will take everything he learned from his Uniformed Protective Services course into a career with the Royal Air Force.
🚑 Seb Langford, (Uffculme School) is planning to become a first responder in Southampton.
⛏️ Freyja Shaw (Wellington School) is heading to Durham University to study Archaeology.
🏎️ Christopher Heydon (Uffculme School) is off to study Mechanical Engineering at Swansea University and hopes to eventually work in an automotive company.
🩺 Charlotte Ambler (Taunton School) will be heading south to the University of Exeter to study medicine.

And what about some of their Huish highlights? ⭐

🥼 Finlay Jaeschke (Axe Valley Academy) who is off to study Biochemistry at the University of Southampton, commented that: “My teachers gave me such fabulous feedback and encouragement, I couldn’t have done it without them”.
🏛️ Rian Regan (Queen's College, Taunton) enjoyed making friends and the Greece trip with Classical Civilisation.
📝 James Pullen (Uffculme School), who will undertake a Creative Writing degree, also said his highlight was "making good friends!”.
