Wow what can I say.. Monday night sewers you have done me proud. We went from learning to read a pattern to completing a pattern challenge where you all made the same thing to learn how to follow a pattern. Then you all made a garment of your choice. 2 of you finished yours this week and the others are almost done. To see the difference in your confidence at the machine in just 7 weeks is 😍.. take a bow I am so very proud of you. Cyndy and Jane were happy to share their wonderful makes with you all... Aren't they awesome?

This is a perfect explanation of why we "understitch" it's probably the question I get asked the most in the 6 week sewing courses " why do we have to understitch? Can't I just miss that bit because it's fiddly?"
I saw this article and thought this explained exactly why "No we need to follow the pattern and do the understitch"

Of skipping the understitching! When sewing a lined garment you may notice your necklines and armholes twist and fold over. This is because you’ve skipped the most important stitch that keeps curves looking crisp and flat. And it’s called understitching! Typically understitching happens after either reducing the bulk in curves, or clipping curved seams so they sit smoother. Understitching requires laying the seams so they sit flat towards the inside of the garment, and topstitching the lining of the garment, not the outside of the garment.

Calling Tuesday night workshop Pattern challenge sewers LOOK at this. The pattern challenge on this course involves a full sleeve with an inner sleeve stay enabling this look. It's a tricky element that the "learn to read a pattern" sewers have taken in their stride. And clearly we are on trend as here is the same style sleeve being modelled on morning TV!
The next learn to read a pattern 6 week course starts 2nd November.. what will their pattern challenge be I wonder?
