Churchfields Remembered the Heroes.
On the Friday before Remembrance Day we went to the clock tower for our 2 minutes silence, as well as selling and buying poppy items at school the children made poppies to help create a wall display which we turned into a poster, some of the children wrote messages for the fallen and surviving soldiers.
The baking has begun at Atworth! Don't forget to FILL A JAR with gifts or treats. Please leave in reception. Thank you.

Good evening everyone. From all of us at the school, thank you for your amazing generosity and kind words, not only in the last few days of term but over the course of the year. What amazing people you are.Your cards, gifts and messages are so thoughtful we couldn't end the term without posting something. Thank you.

But for now, the summer holidays are here and it's the end of another academic year. What a year it's been. Throughout all the upheaval and the uncertainty that, 2021 has presented us with, we the family that is Churchfields The Village School have remained strong. By family, we mean the children, parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and the staff. We could not have achieved all we have without that web of support, love and respect for each other. What a team! Well done and thank you!

On that note I would just like to say, year 6 you have an incredible adventure ahead of you. It's going to be amazing! Enjoy and make the most of the summer. Do keep in touch! For the rest of us, stay safe and have a wonderful, wonderful holiday! We cannot wait to see you all in September. We also cannot wait to welcome all of our new little people that will be starting school for the first time. It's going to be awesome!

Lots of Love

Jessie and Violet went on a Lego Mindstorms Robotics Challenge course at Braeside yesterday. They had a super time learning how to control an autonomous robot and working on their problem solving and teamwork skills. We were also really impressed that they were the top scoring team for the day. Brilliant work girls!

Also, this week was our final photography challenge for the summer. It was a lot of fun. We loved Cas' entries. I wonder how many people will be inspired to keep practising their photography skills over the summer. We'd love to see what you get up to!

Good evening! What a hot, sticky couple of days it has been! However, this has not stopped Churchfields from participating in some amazing sporting events.

We have been very mindful of the scorching temperatures and have made as much use of the coolest parts of the day before it gets too hot. Well done everyone, the vast majority of you have been wearing hats and have remembered sun screen and water bottles.

So, here are a few pictures just to show you what some of us have been up to. We have Rocket ball, a mini Olympics and a series of stations with lots of challenges for the children to complete. Enjoy these because there are definitely more to follow! X X X

21 June 2021 – Sing Together Day 20/07/2021

21 June 2021 – Sing Together Day

As some of you may know Key Stage one took part in a 'sing together' project run by Wiltshire Music Connect. Lots of you will recognise the song as we started to learn this song during lock down. The children and the staff just loved taking part and although our school was not recorded on this occasion we do get a mention at the very end! This is a lovely short film that explains brilliantly why singing and coming together (in one way or another) is of such importance for us all! This was an absolute privilege to have been a part of. Enjoy X X X X

HELP! HELP! HELP!

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you may be aware the pool committee have been trying to arrange a sponsored swim to be completed during our summer holidays to try and raise funds for our school pool.

Unfortunately we have been unable to secure a pool to do this in. So we would love, if possible, for your child/ren to 'travel the world' either by swimming, cycling, scooting, roller skating, running or walking!!!

You and your child/ren would need to set a distance you are comfortable with and ask people (friends/family) to sponsor you. Once all the sponsor forms have been handed back at the start of the September term we can total up the distance travelled and see how far Churchfields have managed to navigate the World! This could be a fun and great way to raise funds for our pool.

Any questions please feel free to contact me either by facebook or by email - [email protected]

If anyone would like to join the pool committee please feel free to get in touch with me. Any ideas/suggestions are very welcome.

Kind regards

Zoe Roberts

The sponsor forms have been emailed to all families today. Please participate if you can. This is an invaluable resource for our lovely school, making us even more unique. Not all schools have one of these, we are incredibly lucky! 🙂🙂🙂 X X X

Good evening everyone! Sorry for the late post, what a hot and muggy weekend! I hope you have all managed to stay in the shade and kept nice and cool.

As you may know, this week is sports week (mini sports week) therefore, please ensure that all PE kit is in school as we will be participating in sporting activities over the course of the next three days. This weather does mean water bottles also need to be in school and sun screen applied in the morning. Thank you so much.

Not all activities will happen outside as our fields at both bases have very little shade. We do not wish for the children to be in sweaty PE kit all day long hence asking for kit to be available in school for when it is required only.

In true Team Churchfields style we won't let the weather (hot, cold, rainy) spoil what we hope to achieve, we will just adjust our plans accordingly!

Happy Sunday!

Love Mrs G X X X

Good evening everyone! As you are all aware, today was sports day. This wasn't the sports day we had originally planned however, in true Team Churchfields style we embraced the current situation. Today we made many happy memories for the children. The children worked incredibly hard in their teams, supported each other beautifully, listened well and joined in. We are so proud of all of the children and what they achieved.

Thank you to Mr Kiely for coming in, setting up and helping us plan many exciting and challenging activity stations. He always ensures that the children have the best time! Thank you to all of the teachers for supporting this and providing such lovely encouragement, and lastly thank you to Brandon at Monkton Farleigh for taking such awesome photos.

Well done to our three teams.

Great team effort!X X X

Oh wow! What a day!!!!

Today our KS1 bubble were delighted to welcome in David Garcia, percussionist and music guru. This was an opportunity for all the children to share the work they've been doing on body percussion.

Every year our local music cluster (BOA and Corsham) work on a joint project. Sadly we can't put on a concert this year, so instead we are joining together virtually and David is recording performances from lots of local schools which will be joined together in a video. What a video this will be!

Appropriately we will all be singing the song Together, which was written specially for Wiltshire. KS1 have put their own Churchfields spin on this and we look forward to seeing it in the final video!

For now however, here are a couple of photographs of the children meeting David in person and joining in with some really fun, body percussion activities.

Thank you David from all at Team Churchfields. We have so loved watching all of your videos and joining in with the activities. It was a pleasure to meet you today and perform with you!

Huge thanks to Rev Jane and Zoe from our local churches who came in to work with our Atworth Y6s at this special time of year, talking to them about the move up to secondary school and giving positive advice about challenges they will face - including how to tie a tie! Some very egg-citing structures were built and tested, with varying degrees of success and the children had a lot of fun! A great day! Thanks a million ###x

Welcome.

Children should receive nothing less than an outstanding education. This allows them to not only thrive during their childhood, but ensures they gain the aspirations, skills and knowledge for them to be the best they can throughout their lives. The school community is therefore focused on developing the whole child through the setting of high standards of learning and behaviour, and providing the experiences and support to enable these to be reached. We are proud that our provision not only focuses on the basic skills of English and mathematics but broadly covers a rich variety of subjects through an experiential curriculum, such as our ‘Forest School’ work. All learning takes place in the context of positive Christian values such as mutual care and respect, encouraging pupils to flourish spiritually as well as academically.

We are a Church of England school within the Diocese of Salisbury. The Christian values of friendship, compassion, hope, forgiveness and justice underpin all we do. Our school is well respected in the community and has 137 pupils on roll (January 2017). We are lucky enough to have two bases at Atworth and Monkton Farleigh which we take advantage of through joint learning programmes and social events. Pupils have the opportunity to visit each other and work together at both bases regularly which they really enjoy.

We are proud of our open-door policy which allows the school to have first class relationships with parents/carers for the benefit of their children’s development and education. We always seek to involve families by finding out their views of the school and offering opportunities such as open days and information sessions.

It is important to us that the school constantly evolves to meet the needs of our children and that they are actively involved in this. For this reason we have a School Council comprising children from each year group who meet regularly to gather the views of all pupils and work with the senior staff to bring about change to make the school a happier and more productive place.

General information

At Churchfields we strive to nurture every child, and provide firm foundations for our children to become confident, independent learners. Churchfields provides the highest standard of education within a safe and caring environment that’s underpinned by Christian values. We endeavour to provide a broad and balanced curriculum to ensure that the school promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for other people of all faiths, and those of no faith. We encourage pupils to distinguish right from wrong and to respect the law of England, to accept responsibility for their behaviour, show initiative and understand how they can contribute positively to the lives of those in the locality and to society more widely. We ensure that all pupils in school have a voice that is listened to, demonstrating how democracy works by actively promoting democratic processes, such as the School Council, whose members are voted for by the pupils.
