Great Ellingham Preschool

Great Ellingham Preschool Village preschool for girls and boys aged 2-5 years

At Great Ellingham Preschool, we believe in creating an environment in which all children can grow and develop. We have specialist early years equipment and trained staff to provide preschool education of a high standard for children from 2 years to school age in a stimulating and caring environment. Our ethos is learning through play with a strong emphasis on the social and emotional aspects of d

evelopment. Learning should be fun, and we aim to mix plenty of creative, imaginative and physical play with the more specific skills involved in preparation for reading, writing and number work. We aim to give each child the opportunity to develop and thrive during their time at Preschool, creating the beginning of their journey into education. As a preschool, we aim to:

- Offer a wide range of stimulating activites

- Allocate every child a key person who will work closely with parents/carers to ensure we meet each child's individual needs

- Create opportunities for the children to initiate play based on their own interests

- Help to develop each child's social skills

- Regularly update our training and skills to ensure we deliver the best learning opportunities and to keep up to date with changing Government legislation and policies.

Did you know a bright coat could make a difference to your child’s safety?
Autumn may feel like ages away but before we know it the clocks will change and our children will be heading to and from school in the dark. Wearing a brighter coloured coat can help them be seen more easily by drivers as the nights draw in.
If your child or their school insists on a darker colour you can add reflective strips to increase visibility.

Who's ready for the solar eclipse this evening? 🌞

What a brilliant experience for the children to witness but please observe it safely and remind your children to NEVER look directly at the sun.!

There are many ways to view the eclipse safely, one way being a pinhole viewer.
I've made one this morning, very easy. (See video on another post as link didn't work)
Turn your back away from the sun, line it up and you have a safe projection to view.

OR

Use anything with a hole πŸ•³οΈ

Colanders are a great way of seeing many eclipses 🀭

I believe the observatory is also open this evening where they will have the correct and safe filters to view the eclipse.

Embrace this phenomenal event, we rarely get to see an eclipse of such scale.
But please remember to view it safely.

(And if anyone wants to stay up even later, the Perseid meteor shower should put on a good show too) πŸ’«β˜„οΈ

Enjoy

Be safe

Good afternoon,
Thank you all for your patience with us and the emails yesterday πŸ™‚
We also apologise for not posting recently. Time has just flown by and things have been rather busy lately with getting everything wrapped up for yet another academic year.

This week the children have had a little walk around the village to see some teddy bears 🐻

We were also visited by a tanker which the children were thrilled to see. It was very big and they were really inquisitive about it. Thank you to H C Beales Agricultural Contracting.

We cannot believe there is only one full week left at preschool. Next week will be fun fun fun. We will have lots of water outside with small paddling pools. Please pack a change of clothes or if you wish, pack swim gear for the children to change in to and bring a named towel.

Have a great weekend everyone and see you next week πŸ˜€

Good evening all just a reminder as it's going to be hot this week. If you can dress your little ones in lightly coloured loose fitting clothes, I'm sure they will appreciate it too.
We will monitor the uv levels during the morning and the children will be outside if they remain low. children don't sweat like adults do and we don't want the risk of any child/children getting poorly with heat stroke/ heat exhaustion so between 11am and 3pm they will remain indoors where is slightly cooler as we will have the ceiling fans on,
we will have water play out so spare clothes too.
Also there will be access to fresh cooled water and ice pops to keep them cool in this extreme heat.

This week at preschool we have looked at people who help us, we have read stories about energency services and helping others, and talked about who helps us. The children created fire using red πŸ”΄ and yellow 🟑 paint which also incorporated colour mixing to make orange 🟠. They made hoses to put the 'fire' out too.

This week is also mental health week, being outside is vital to support our mental heath. Its not been as nice this week weather wise but we got the wetsuits out so the children could still play outside. We have also had Little Tots with Maria Green come in for a mindfulness session with the story 'Monkey Puzzle' about a baby monkey that just wants to find his mummy, we explored lots of emotions. Thank you Maria 😊

We hope you all have a great weekend πŸ˜€

🌻🌻🌻SUNFLOWERS🌻🌻🌻

We have had some sunflower plants donated by a childs grandparent. Thank you so much πŸ˜€

Some children have started to bring home their sunflower plants today. The rest will come home next week.

Please plant your sunflowers and look after them, we will do the same at preschool. We will check in every now and again to see how all your sunflowers are doing.

How tall will they grow?
Will they all be yellow?
There are lots of questions to answer and learning to be had with this activity.

We would love to see your pictures as they grow taller πŸ˜€

Have fun 🌻
