I am excited as ever that THE conference of the year, the NATECLA Annual Conference, is just over 5 months away. Equally as pleased that for the third year running I will be presenting a workshops. My session on the Saturday is entitled "The ND exam experience -before, during and after. Improving study skills to help navigate exams."

📢There are less than 2 weeks to go until the start of my next 4-part course - Teaching Pre-entry and Low-level Literacy ESOL Learners. 👩🏻‍🏫

The course contents include:

- The effects on learning if you are pre-entry.

- A supportive classroom environment.

- Teaching listening and speaking skills.

- Supporting with reading and writing skills with a number of teaching approaches.

- Examining the sub-skills of reading and writing.

- Trauma and its effect on learning.

- Practical, authentic resources and signposting to existing free resources.

This is a practical blended course of around 14 hours (4 x 2-hour live online sessions and independent study in between). The course is aimed at new and experienced ESOL teachers. To gain a certificate, participants are expected to complete tasks, reflections and are encouraged to share....

A very good day delivering CPD to the team at Wirral Lifelong Learning Service Wirral Council. Covering many topics on improving teaching, learning and assessment, a day of discovery and investigation based on both theory and current practice in the FE Sector. Very impressed with both the team, the cosy facilities and the Egyptian delicacies!

Had an absolutely fab time today training a super bunch of school teachers from Colombia for NILE - Norwich Institute for Language Education. They went from scoring their knowledge of learning differences and neurodiversity in the language classroom from ‘next to nothing’, to ‘feeling confident and empowered to support’ their students. I am happy with that!

Well, my summers are always made brighter by delivering Inclusion courses at NILE. This year though, I have had a blast.

The team at NILE were superb as always, the trainers the best I have worked with! The course participants this year were from Spain, Japan, France, Poland and Uzbekistan. They were by far my best group ever, with a strong dedication to prioritizing neurodiversity and inclusion when they return to their jobs in September.

But for me the last two weeks were made that extra special by finally meeting the wonderful Harry Waters.
