Our new Year 7 students have had a fantastic first day at Beacon Hill.

They’ve spent time getting to know how secondary school works, meeting their form tutors, organising their books and equipment, and trying out some new subjects for the very first time.

Well done, Year 7 - an outstanding start to your secondary school journey.

We are looking forward to welcoming all students back tomorrow and hope you have all had a fantastic summer break! ☀️

A few important notices for the start of the new school year:

🏫 School Entrance Due to the ongoing building works on our gym roof, all students should enter school via the fire door next to the front entrance. Arrival time remains the same at 8:40am.

🏃 PE for Years 9, 10 & 11 Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 all have PE tomorrow, so please ensure they bring their full and correct PE kit.

We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow and begin another successful year together. Have an early night and we'll see you in the morning! 😊

What a brilliant morning for our Year 11s — results day finally arrived, and they absolutely smashed it.

Huge shout out to Jessica and Laszlo for fantastic results across their subjects.

And a massive well done for Kaylyn , Niamh, Lucas, and Elise who managed a Distinction in BTEC Sport and a perfect 100% in their exam. Outstanding effort.

Big well done too to Jayden Lambert, who achieved a brilliant set of grades across the board.

And of course… well done to every single one of our Year 11 students. You’ve worked hard, shown real resilience, and made us all proud.

Our students are now heading off to exciting next steps , A‑levels, apprenticeships, and college courses, we can’t wait to see what they do next.

GCSE Results Day Reminder

With GCSE Results Day just around the corner, we wanted to wish all of our Year 11 students the very best of luck. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, commitment and resilience you have shown throughout your examinations, and we look forward to celebrating your achievements with you later this week.

Results Day: Thursday 20 August 2026
Collection Time: 10:00am – 12:30pm
Results can be collected from school during this time. Senior staff will be available to offer support and guidance to any students who would like help with enrolment, sixth form, college, apprenticeships or other next steps.

Important Access Information
Please note that there are building works taking place at the school over the holidays. This means there may be some restrictions to normal access. If you arrive at the main entrance as usual, staff will direct you as needed.

If you have arranged for results to be posted or collected by another person on your behalf, please ensure the school office has received the appropriate written request in advance.

We look forward to welcoming our Year 11 students back on Thursday and sharing this important milestone with them. Good luck everyone!

Beacon Hill Annual Chess Tournament 2025–26

Following weeks of challenging matches and excellent competition, we are delighted to officially crown our 2025–26 Chess Champion – Daniel C (Year 10), who won all four of his games.

🏆 Gold Medal – Daniel (Year 10)
🥈 Silver Medal – Lincoln (Year 8)
🥉 Bronze Medal – Joe (Year 9)

Lincoln demonstrated tremendous sportsmanship throughout the competition. After receiving a bye in the first round, he felt he wanted to earn his place entirely on merit rather than by default. He therefore put his silver medal up for grabs against our bronze medallist, Joe. Lincoln emerged victorious and thoroughly deserved his medal.

A huge well done to everyone who took part in this year’s tournament. We would also like to give a special mention to Mariia (Year 9), our runner-up, who has only recently taken up chess and has already developed an impressive understanding of the game.

A fantastic day last week at the festival of work. Our students had a brilliant time getting involved in a wide range of interactive workshops, hands-on activities and engaging with employers from a variety of industries. From exploring different careers pathways to learning about apprenticeships, further education, and future opportunities, there was something to inspire everyone.

It was a fantastic to see o it students asking questions, building their confidence, developing new skills, and making the most of every opportunity available to them. Their enthusiasm and positive attitude throughout the day made us incredibly proud!

A huge thank you to All Together Cumbria for organising and delivering such a well-planned, engaging event that continued to open students’ eyes to the exciting possibilities for their futures. We’d also like to thank Lakes College for being such fantastic hosts and providing and excellent venue for the event!

We look forward to returning next year!👏
