Our out of school clubs give children the chance to explore new interests, try something different and spend time with friends before after the school day ends.

Our school run Out of School Club is available for all parents to use before and after school during term time only. Vicky Hughes is the manager, as well as a teaching assistant in school. Rachel Cole works alongside Vicky Hughes as OOSC assistant.

The breakfast session is available from 7.30am to 8.30am, Monday to Friday, with children taken to their respective classes by staff at 8.30am. The after school session is available from 3.15pm to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, and a snack is provided. Children have a selection of activities and crafts to choose from including cookery, sport, games, and art.

OOSC work extremely closely with the school creating true wrap around care. The same behaviour expectations are applied at OOSC as in school allowing children to be happy and safe. Children use the outside area of OOSC when dry and warm enough, as well as having full access to the school grounds. 🌈⭐️

Through practical investigations, outdoor learning in our Forest School sessions, and a focus on inclusivity, we aim to ensure every child feels confident and excited about science. Our goal is to nurture inquisitive, independent learners who see themselves as future scientists and problem solvers. 🔬 🧪 🧬

Learning life skills

PSHE lessons at St Mary’s help children understand their feelings, build positive friendships and learn how to care for themselves and others.

Through open discussion, shared experiences and age appropriate learning, pupils develop confidence, empathy and resilience, skills that support them both in school and beyond. 📚 ✏️ ⭐

Collective Worship is a calm and reflective part of the school day at St Mary’s. It gives pupils time to pause, listen and think, whether that’s about kindness, gratitude, faith or the world around them.

These shared moments help children learn together, support one another and develop a sense of belonging within our school community. ✝️ 🙏

World Book Day is always a favourite. It’s a wonderful chance to celebrate stories, imagination and the enjoyment that books bring into everyday school life. Classrooms are filled with favourite characters, shared stories and lots of excitement as children talk about the books they love.

Days like this help nurture a lifelong love of reading, encouraging children to explore new stories, use their imagination and share ideas with their friends. It’s always lovely to see how much joy reading brings, and how it helps children grow in confidence, creativity and curiosity. 📚🌍✨

What is the School Council?

Our school council represents the views of all pupils. It gives us the opportunity to make our voices heard and feel part of the whole school community.

Our school council helps to make changes and improvements to try and make our school a nicer place for everyone.

When we meet, everyone gets a chance to speak and when we’ve finished we vote on the best ideas. Sometimes we have to talk to our headteacher and sometimes we talk with school visitors.

📚✨ World Book Day is coming up! ✨📚

Don’t forget to join us on Thursday 5th March as we celebrate the joy of reading.

Children are invited to come dressed as their favourite book character and bring along their favourite story to share.

We can’t wait to see all the amazing costumes and celebrate our love of books together! 🌍📖

As we step into the New Year, we’re taking time to reflect on the values that shape our school community: Compassion, Friendship, Koinonia and Trust.

We look forward to seeing these values shine through our school community in 2026. ✨
