Ember 10 week challenge ✨
Pilates has so many benefits. In classes we focus on :
- Core
- Stability
- Deep muscle activation
- Postural alignment
- Mobility and flexibility
- Muscular endurance
However, what we do outside of class is so important when it comes to getting the most out of Pilates.
In classes we typically use body weight, high reps with slow tempo and springs with a moderate resistance. This means that pilates is absolutely amazing for movement quality, however it doesn’t necessarily mean that our muscles will be pushed to their maximal strength capacity in classes.
Clients often want to achieve more muscle definition, glute growth, a higher metabolism and increased strength. Although pilates helps us shape, control and refine movement, it is strength training alongside pilates that is going to help us accelerate these outcomes!
Alongside this, diet plays a huge role in how our body responds to both weight training and Pilates. Pilates and Strength training stress muscles, connective tissue and the nervous system. If our nutrition supports recovery and muscle function we are likely to see:
- Better muscle tone
- Faster recovery
- Improved energy to perform better in classes
- Less muscle soreness after class
