Welcome to the Wigan & West Lancashire Catholic School Direct programme. School Direct is the way of training teachers which puts schools at the heart of the process. The Wigan & West Lancashire Catholic School Direct programme is a partnership between nine Catholic secondary schools and one Catholic Sixth Form college with a shared vision and commitment to providing first class ITE (Initial Teacher Education) provision for our trainees that not only equips trainees with the skills and knowledge required to teach their subject but also appreciates the distinct nature that working as part of a Catholic community can bring. Working in partnership with Liverpool Hope University we have designed an exciting training opportunity that combines school placement experiences with training and development opportunities that take place across our partnership schools as well as at Liverpool Hope University. Our student teachers have spent their first week at LJMU completing a week of induction and professional studies. Looking forward to seeing them back in school next week!

✝️🌞 It's been a busy summer for RE teacher Miss Harvey! 🌞🙏

Miss Harvey has just made her second pilgrimage to Lourdes of the summer holidays - and her FOURTH this year!

🐣 At Easter, she travelled with Hosanna House and Children’s Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT), caring for a group of children from Leeds, from a range of different and often challenging backgrounds.

❤️💛🖤 In May, she led our school’s first Lourdes pilgrimage in over 20 years, which saw more than 20 Year 10 students make the journey.

🇫🇷 In July, she travelled to Lourdes for the 50th Anniversary Liverpool Archdiocesan Youth Pilgrimage, which had a strong SJF representation, volunteering with Liverpool Hospitalité and working in the hospital.

💙 Now, at the end of August, Miss Harvey has returned to Lourdes with HCPT, leading a group of adults with disabilities from Wigan and Leeds.

What a wonderful example of faith, service and dedication to others. ✝️
